Well, its nothing new actually...this is just one of the uglier sides of international sports. Many teams do this to stop the opponent from getting an advantage. I remember, Cristiano had to suffer some really nasty tackles this season too. The guy cud have been seriously hurt in the process. ITs just plain luck tht he didint suffer a serious injury till now. Its not hidden from anyone how the rival teams look at him as a threat. All it takes is a nasty tackle which cud put him out for months. Just what happened to Rooney at the starting of the season. Tht tackle on him seemed so deliberate. And what does the attacker get in return? A mere red card... there are many players who wud do it for a little bit of money and get away with a one match ban, while the player who suffers the tackle is thrown out for months at stretch or maybe, forever...
Something has to be done to stop this malice on the field...maybe a life ban! tht is the only way to stop this thing from happening to anyone else.
