Default Re: Australian Grand prix under flood :D

True, but local organisers have been under constant attack, from almost the very first GP, from a variety of sources........ At the moment, the biggest stumbling block are those against cigarette & alcohol advertisements that litter the F1 sidelines, their marquees and all the other stuff that goes along with it. Take that away and the race teams would find it hard to justify their costs in staging the event, which would be a shame as the Melbourne GP is a good one.

It's become a game of politics with interstate rivalries once more dogging everything we do as respective state governments try to outdo each other. There's also a few other considerations too, firstly, we're very spoiled for choice here in Victoria, almost every week, you can guarantee there'll be a 'big' event somewhere to go to and it can lead to the general population becoming jaded.... And a fair few people get frustrated by the constant big event parades, the GP is held in Albert Park, which carries a significant amount of daily traffic, shut that area down while the GP is on and it causes chaos....

My brother is a senior fire officer in Queensland, he was saying that emergency services up there hate the Indy Car races they have in Surfers each year, he reckons that if a hotel on the strip was to catch fire, they wouldn't be able to get there in time, because of the races....

I'm for the race as I enjoy car racing, but I admit, I usually watch it on tele
