Re: India vs South Africa 3rd test, 2008
267 all out
"I'm glad that you have pointed out that what counts isn't what India have thrown at South Africa, but what South Africa are going to throw back! By giving the South African attack a difficult pitch with variable bounce the Indians were betting on winning the toss and putting runs on the board before a trial by spin. If South Africa can get to 300 they may well have a winning total and enough for a big 1st innings lead," says Mark Kidger.
Well South Africa haven't got to 300 but they won't be too disappointed with 265. Some balls have kept low, some bounced sharply and it has turned as well. Ishant got the ball to reverse swing quite a bit which will be encouraging for Steyn and Morkel.
India, though, will also be satisfied with their effort after losing the toss. They bounced back strongly to dismiss South Africa after they were 152 for 1 at one stage. India's batsmen, however, will have to apply themselves for run-scoring won't be easy with South Africa's disciplined attack and sharp fielding outfit. A first-innings lead will be precious.
Good fight back by the Indians. But as jagger said, what matters is how the Indians do
