Sponsors have asked Star Plus to change the format of Shahrukh Khan’s show “Kya aap paanchvi pass se tez hain” in order to increase the ratings. The show is facing tough competition on Indian Premier League, which has attracted more than expected audience share.

TRP ratings for Panchvi Pass’s first episode were 4.7 and have dropped after that. In Hindi Speaking regions, the show has managed to get a TRP of 3.5 on an average as per data from TAM.

Sponsors are disappointed with the performance of the show so far. They are now blaming that the show format isn’t as good as original US-based Fox’s show “Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?”

Major sponsors for the show Panchvi Pass include Bharti Airel, LG Electronics, Parle Products, General Motors, Tata Sky and Ambuja Cement. As per estimates, Star India has clocked in a revenue of Rs 150 crore from the show.


In a recent post on official Amitabh Bachchan blog on BigAdda, the show has been termed as “Paanchi Fail”. Though the comment isn’t from Amitabh, but is a quote some top official (name not specified) of rival channel.
