Re: Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo hints at possible move The midfielder maestro has revealed that he wants out of Old Trafford, words that will in no doubt be a disappointment to Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, according to The Sun.
To add on to this whirling sideshow of Euro 2008, Ronaldo has also given word that he is still meeting the Scotsman in a face-to-face confrontation when he returns this week to Manchester.
The Portuguese superstar also said that incoming Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari was the one who advised him to leave the Red Devils while away playing international fixtures for his country.
The 23-year-old shocked many when he uttered this right after his Portuguese side were beaten 3-2 by Germany in the Euro 2008 quarter-final, saying: "There is a great possibility I will join Real Madrid."
More and more details have arisen since then, even the time he had made his decision.
"I made my decision some time ago - before the Champions League Final," said Ronaldo, before adding, "We were competing and I didn't want to say anything because it is a very important decision. I did not want to say anything here because I wanted to be focused on Portugal - but now it is finished and I am going to say more."
Ronaldo scored Man United's only goal in the 1-1 Champions League Final draw with Chelsea, then proceeded to miss in the shootout as United won on penalties.
However, the move to Real Madrid is not Ronaldo's own wish, but also the dream of his mother Dolores, who admitted in a television interview that she would relish the chance to see her son play for Los Merengues.
"It is a personal thing. It is something I want, something I dream of and my family dreams of," continued Ronaldo. "You all know what I want. I cannot say anything else. In two days you will hear from me.
"It is always difficult. It is not only one person deciding, it is many people, but it can be a very good thing for everybody."
Ronaldo, Man United's top scorer last season with 42 goals, added: "It is a dream, a step forward, you can call it what you want.
"For me it is a great opportunity and, as my national boss Scolari says, that train passes by only once and we have to take advantage of it. That is why he took advantage of his change, that opportunity, and other people have to take advantage of opportunities too."
The two-time Premier League winner did not, however, rule out the possibility of staying at the Theatre of Dreams should he be disallowed from joining Real.
Asked if he thought Man United would allow him to leave, he said: "It's always difficult because I am not the person who decides.
"There are many people. What is certain is that it's a good piece of business for the two sides.
"I hope everything can be sorted in three or four days. Let's see, in the next few days we will have more details."
The creative attacker extended his contract only twelve months ago, signing a five-year US$237, 000-a-week deal.
Ronaldo also revealed he helped the Red Devils to the Double despite suffering from a foot ailment in the last few months.
He is slated to have surgery next week after playing in pain as Man United worked hard to win both the BPL title and the Champions League before joining Portugal for the European Championships.
He said: "I will be seen by the doctors of United in a couple of days."
"I will talk to my club first, then in three or four days I will be operated on and then I will start the recuperation to get better."
"I will release a public statement and we will then see what will happen.
"I really hope that my dream comes true, let's see." Source : Espnstar.com
