Default Re: Tour De France 2008

People to watch out for

I think first up remember there is no Contador this time around What a shame really. A champion was born last year and he will sit out cos of no fault of his. (Sure Astana made a mess last year but what has Contador gotta do with it )
And there is no Michael Rasmussen too. King of the mountains won't be the same without him. So the Polka Dot is up for grabs and my bet this time is again on Soler

Overall, yellow jersey!
Cadel Evans, Valverde, Pereiro(can you believe it, this guy is gonna work for valverde this year remember he is the defacto 2006 champion after Landis), Menchov and my perennial underdog Sastre

I would go with the bookies that Evans has the best chance. But remember last year we said the same for Vino and we know what happened However he did give a superb performance last year and considering that Alberto is not there, Evans is the hot fav to win. (Although everyone thinks he is weak when attacked, and last year but for the fiasco with the Michael Rasmussen and vino, Evans was not gonna be 2nd.)

Valverde is another nice bet this year. But for a disaster at the time trial last year, i think he would ahve given Contador a good run for his money. Coming to Sastre the perpetual underperformer, i dunno why he can't improve his time trial skills Menchov is another good bet, esecially since Rasmussen is gone now. The guy has been preparing full time for the tour and i expect a good show

So finally who am i backing, : I can't get myself to back Evans actually : The trouble with him is that you will never see a grand finish with Evans. Its always a tire the other guy out with him. I am instead gonna bank on Valverde this year
