The Gaikwads were excellent rulers and very well foresighted too.

The city is excellently planned and they had taken care of expansion of upcoming 50 years into the mind when they planned city.

It has perhaps the only US styled university names after great ruler Maharaja Sayajirao, which has its jurisdiction limited to Vadodara City and its subarbs not like another Indian University where jurisdiction extends to Hundreds of kilometere away from HQ.

Alas, Gujarat and infact not many other Indian regions had this kind of luck to have good rulers.

Now a days Vadodara is loosing its shine due to developing SEZs and Special Industrial Areas otherwise it has one behemoth of Industrial Houses located there.
