Briggin The Legend of Bullet Singh !

The Legend of Bullet Singh !

It's not a legend for nothing. And now it's becoming a brand. If someone's ever told you that it's not the destination but getting there is what life is all about, it can't be more true than when you're out on a ride with your Royal Enfield Bullet. Whatever your trip, be it the Himalayan Ghat or the Southern Plains, or even a 10 km ride to your office, this bike will leave you feeling that you have ridden.

The magic of a single cylinder has been romanced by many an avid biker across the globe, but in India, with the falling away of the other big boys like the Yezdi Road King and the Yamaha 350 cc, it's the single thump of the Bullet that's caught the fancy of big-bike lover.

According to a senior marketing executive and avid biker, Prashanth S, "I used to ride a Road King earlier, but after the company closed down, I tried the bullet once and have stayed with it since. Ours is now a romance of 12 years and I've now acquired my second Bullet." He says, "I ride out at least once a month.

I believe that India is a country that has to be seen by road and nothing serves you better than the Bullet to do this." Speaking about the Bullet Magic mechanic Feroz says, "200 kms ke baad, yehgaadi ko pagal ho jaata. It's a completely different bike once the engine's heated up. Its response is very immediate and will leave behind any bike in its wake."

Comparing the Bullet with other four strokes available in the market today, Mandy S, says, "Japanese bikes were made to keep the finks off the Bullets. It's true that a Pulsar 180 cc or even a Karizma can do all the distances a Bullet can do, but once again when we say it's the getting there that matters, a Bullet will score hands down, transferring the satisfaction of every beat to the hands that twist the throttle".

It's also true that everybody makes way for the Bullet. The deep thump of the bike is arresting and if makers of such bikes abroad can run for patents to protect their sound, in India, a Bullet fan will marry a mechanic (if he could) as long as he can tune his bike to `beat' for him. "In a time of speed, I like a slow beat," says media person Cherian Thomas. "The Bullet is a bike you have to been seen on. I just love the way you can cruise at 15 kmph on fourth gear," he says.

While, earlier a whole nation had to fall in line with what was available, today, every consumer's needs are met by manufacturers. But can one really change the legend that the Bullet is and customise it to the needs of a teeny bopper?

It takes craft and it takes care and also a complete understanding of what it takes to make a Legend and... keep it. This has been done to the satisfaction of both the younger lover and the older aficionado. It's different strokes for different folks and there's an array one can choose from:

- You have the stylish Thunderbird. A cruiser with the electric start option.
- If you want greater speed options, you have the Bullet Electra 5S. With a left side gear shift, this takes care of the mind set many people have about not being able to cope with a right side gear shift after years of riding the other way. This model also comes with an electric starter and dual tone colours.
• The Bullet Machismo, still quite the favourite comes with retro styling and custom made accessories.
• Then there's the Bullet Electra. The Bullet for the city with Electric Starter and TCI.
• And for those who want more there's the Bullet 500. Fully loaded with electric starter and disc brakes.
• Then there are those who will not have it any other way. For them it will always be the Bullet 350. The legendary motorcycle untouched by time.

Brand With every passing year, this motorcycle thumps steadily on into the realm of legends. It's become a brand in itself. But one that stands for not just a motorcycle, but a way of life. Servicing these needs are the Bullet Brand Stores that have come up.If you're looking to outfit yourself with the trappings of a legend, these are one-stop-shops for you. So go ahead and tell them what's your trip!
