[Int] Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 Review
very old review but heres what he has to say
The driving sensations now ! Swift Sport show me what you've got ! Well, unfortunately the enthusiasm of the first kilometres is replaced by the frustration of an underpowered engine. What we have here is a VVT DOHC 1.6L (4 cylinders) producing 126HP with a torque of 148Nm (compared to the 1.3L and 92HP in the stock version) but it's not enough even with a light body of only 1.090KG (2.400LBS)and a greatly reworked chassis(Monroe shock absorbers). Why ? Because of too long gearbox ratios and the lack of torque.Frustrating I told you.
even if its frustrating hope to see some similar higher powered cars available locally

What we wouldn't do to get a 100+ bhp hot hatch in India.
Cmon Maruti, slap the SX4 engine onto the Swift and watch your sales skyrocket

Re: [Int] Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 Review
The Diseal version is comparitively faster then the Petrol version unbelieveably..
my swift VDI puts out 190nm torque compared to 110nm IIRC on the petrol.
one of the best things i liked about the VDI is that, they installed a very powerful Turbo charger just as the 20Lakhs+ cars have inside a small 1.3L engine. And according to what i have seen, it can beat even the Skoda Laura 2.4L diseal for acceleration.

Yea tonnes of torque once in the power band but upto 2000 rpm there's turbo lag. In a straight out drag, a bone stock petrol will beat a bone stock diesel. However put a tuning box and the diesel will probably be faster.

Yeah the Turbo kicks in only after 2000 rpm. In some big cars, its 3000 though

Naa generally bigger the engine, lower the redline. Even the optra magnum turbo kicks in at 2000rpm or so. Same with the verna diesel. All diesels have a very narrow power band and to get max performance you of it, better stay in the powerband or there's no boost at all and the car will run at a snail's pace.
