Which small car to buy for my dad?

We have been able to sell off our old M800 to a bakra.

Now i need to decide which small car to go for.

I have to rule out tall boy designs that leaves out WagonR and Santro.

Indica my father is not comfortable with elongated view so he cant view the anterior end of the bonet.

I am not looking for Zen Estilo with reviews it has got.

SO that leaves out following options.

Alto, Spark, I10, Palio.

now my preferences are strictly Price, FE, Small size.

Every thing fit the bill for Alto and we have almost zoomed on it but still i would like to have some share of the knowledge of gurus here.

Am I missing something here?

Hows Chevy Spark in comparison to Alto?

And i am not looking for power, rear seat comfort as this car is going to be run intracity and by my father mostly and sometimes my wife, so please dont push me towards fancy, sporty but costlier options.

IMO go for an I10, Alto will be too small for a family, ~ for Spark, you can only adjust 4 in that car, that too not too comfortably.
b/w don't go by only.....I10 really has spacious interiors & FE is really goo on mileage too

my friend has it & it gives around 14-15KPL with AC in city like mumbai

Its too bad tht u dont prefer tallboy design, otherwise Wagon R wud be the best bet of the small car lot in tht list.. Its spacious, ample head room and is very fuel efficient and reliable. Plus it has good resale value owing to its reliability in the long run. We've got a black one and it has been completely hassle free in the last 2 years of owning it. IMO, when it comes to cars in india, U can be safe with a Maruti Suzuki.. Atleast the tried and tested models.. Estilo is a new car and i dont know much about why it is getting negative reviews, but i'd still say tht u stear clear of the Spark and Maybe evn the i10. Its fairly new in the market and when u are purchasing something as big as a car, its always wise to choose a car which enjoys a fairly good reputation in the market. Atleast, u'll be sure tht u'll recover more money when u sell it than say a spark (GM cars dont enjoy a good resale value in the market).
An ALto is a tried and tested model and u'll not go wrong with it..the only negative point of tht car is tht it is cramped and the 5th person will always be unwelcome in it... And if u have frequent visitors, they'll be cursing u (u'll be cursing them) when u have to take them out for a ride in the alto..

heard from mano that matiz/spark is a very good car to drive inside the city.

Alto is kind off underpowered for my liking, i was planning to get that last month as it was withing my budget, but after TD i felt it underpowered after going on palio 1.6(bottle's), Swift(mano's), Cedia (chaos's) ).

I personally don't like Wagon R, i10, santro and Indicab

I would suggest i10.. It's got good power and looks trendy. But the thing i like the most in i10 is its interiors. Usually elderly people don't like jazzy automobiles, so i think i10 would suit him best. Spark is also good(I was always a fan of Matiz) but palio is no where close.
