Oh I don't know about that, Jess is dressed pretty casually, like a soccer-mum going down the supermarket for bread & milk.........

Truth is, when going out to an event, saree is amongst the most elegant of choices, because it can be both elegant and casual at the same time, western dress is, (generally speaking), either one or the other, (there are exceptions to this rule, but let's confine things to this event)....

Dressed in saree our two gals above manage to look pretty, without being overdone, whereas dressed casually in jeans and a waistcoat, (not a bad choice under most circumstances), but here (and similarly to Indian male celebs), manages to look as though she couldn't be bothered making an effort to dress for the occasion............
