Lets start the arguments here

I absolutely hated the Alchemist. As it is, I detest all self-help / feel good books, and this one one really boring. Especially due to all the hype.

Other than that, I really need to read more from the mystery and comedy genres....

Allright ..... Da Vinci Code and Angel and Demons are the only Novels i have Read in my Life. And boy it was an amazing experience. For some reason many bookworms hate Da Vinci code or for dat matter all of Dan Brown's Novels. Dont know why though .... both the novels were page turners ..... highly engaging and thrilling stuff till the last page. What do you people think ? Do you guys also hate Dan brown's work ?

IMHO, all of Dan Brown's works follow the same pattern, hence the disliking towards , well , all of his books

well i agree on the comedy novels part.
Only i hate the romantic comedies. Why can't people write a real world comedy these days beats me. Ofcourse writing a good comedy is as tough as making a good comedy film, but there are hardly any attempts even

Did i add, i completely hate the spy novels with America worship. Individual bravery is one thing, but some are plain ridiculous and from "best seller" authors.

Maybe ..... but all of his Novels are Edge of d seat stuff ..... they r very unpredictable n page turners and i am sure everybody loves page turners. Then why the disliking .... you may dislike dan brown for following the same patteren n all but u have to admit that his novels r fun to read. Maybe u have read Da Vinci Code .... tell me honestly .... did u not enjoy it ?

Bluffy, have you tried reading his books a second time? Most probably you'll get bored. I sure did. Both DVC and Angels were not good literature, they simply relied on sensationalism. You were not turning pages because it was a great book - you were doing so cause you wanted to find out the secret

^Eggjaktly , Why would i wanna Read a Book for the second time anyways ? Unless its really inspirational or something. Its the same like watching Thriller or mystery movies .... once you know the secret , you wont be watching it again .... will you ? Its a Genre of Novels .... its not supposed to be read for a second time. And who cares about Good Lierature ? As long as its simple and interesting , I am game for it !!

Thats like saying "Why would you want to have sex twice?" A good book is a good book - whether its your first read or your twentieth.

Lol ... thats the funniest Comparison i have ever seen Its Like comparing the Sun to a Chocolate Pie ..... Yea .... makes no sense

Just Like movies ..... there r different genres for books as well. I may watch "Titanic" for 20 times but i dont think i'll enjoy watching "the Sixth sense" for the 20th time. I Read Da Vinci code n it was Great .... but now since i know the secret obviously there is no point reading it again unless ofcourse i have nothing better to do. You can blame the Genre for this , not the Novel.

Actually thats true. A good book is almost always one that you wanna read again.

I won't place Dan Brown in the top class anyway. I liked Da vinci, simply cos of its actual historical significance and i liked a unique plot. Apart from that, i have read better thrillers and better fortune hunting novels.

BTW someone has put up Sindey Sheldon in the list. All novels have the same theme, oppressed women who finally rise up in the end.
