JKR has said that she always though of Dumbledore as gay and that he was in love with Grindelwald and was bitterly disappointed when he showed his true colours.

From children's novel to teenage lovestories to adult sexuality. Harry Potter has come a long way Wonder what parents will reply when an 8 yr old asks "I heard dumbledore was a gay. Mommy, what is gay?" I think Rowling made a mistake. It would have been alright if she had told this in a novel which is for mature age.
