Suggest some Fantasy novels.

The only fantasy novels I've read are LoTR and Harry Potter (apart from alice in wonderland and through the looking glass ) I did start with Narnia, but realised I should have done that 10 years ago. It is simply too childish.

I borrowed a couple of books from friends,( forgot the names), but they were hardcore fantasy - jumped right into mysterious worlds with ancient kingdoms with Mages and Warlords and what not......it was a bit too much for me to handle.

I want something with a rich background, but which gently eases me in (like lotr and potter). I've got a few Discworld books, but haven't started yet. Any other suggestions?

I think he was 19 Well I read some very bad reviews, so am not very eager to pick it up. Unless someone here tells me its good.

Eragon is good.... The movie was not at all impressive but the novel simply rocks!!

The sequels to Eragon are Eldest and Empire.....

if you liked LOTR that is(which i didn't )

you can also try reading the black magician trilogy, though i haven't read it and it was recommended to me by someone

The Fountain : I have seen the movie based on this Graphic Novel although the movie went over my head , my friends say that the Graphic novel is pretty damn Good. You can try it

ive read eragon and eldest, its pretty decent, considering that the author started working on eragon when he was 16.

Song of ice and fire and malazan books of the fallen seem to be the best according to popular opinion. Wheel of Time (also a popular one) is the one I'm currently reading and it's been quite good so far though a bit too LOTRish

i havent read any fantasy novel, except for the discworld(luv that!!), in the recent past...

disc world...try good omens, if have read or watched the omen..lovely parody...mort, guards!guards are also recomm...dont rem the other names

famous ones are Eoin Colfer's artemis fowl series and Frank Herbert's dune series..both have gr8 reviews

from wat i remember, if u are young u can try the gamebook one...dont rem the author's names...but the books name were battlebalde warrior, deathtrap dungeon(think u got the picture from the names)...other authors arent worth watever ur age be
