Malegaon, Sept. 8 (PTI): Thirty people were killed and 56 injured in twin blasts in a mosque-cum-graveyard and a market immediately after Friday prayers in this communally sensitive town of Maharashtra today.
As tension gripped the textile town following the blasts at around 1:15 p.m. at Bada Kabristan and Mushaira Market in the heart of the town, authorities clamped curfew and deployed State paramilitary force in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.
The blasts took place when a large number of people gathered in the graveyard to offer prayers for their dead relatives on the occasion of `Shab-e-barat', considered the holiest night under Islam.
The injured have been rushed to the Wadia hospital and other hospitals in the town while some of the grievously injured were moved to Nasik, about 100 km from here, for treatment, sources said.
A near-stampede broke out immediately after the blasts as devotees, including children, rushed out of the narrow gate in panic with many of them trampling over the dead bodies and those seriously injured.
The whole area was splattered with blood and limbs. The devotees also helped the injured rush to nearby hospitals on every available mode of transport including push carts. One has to wonder though, how long will we tolerate pakistan. Its pretty clear what the strategy is, to incite communal tensions, and judging by the regularity of these blasts, its just a matter of time before this thing will blow up into communal riots. Our gov is waiting and watching. What more can you expect if people in bombay blasts are still not punished after 11 years.
Time has come when India started being tough on Pakistan. And on terrorists. ---------------------------------------------- |

Only two things can happen either India emerges stronger from these attacks or it gets weaker by wave of communal tensions which are just waiting to pour out.
For our sake i hope its the former but then history says it will be latter.
About getting proactive with militants/terrorists - all i can say is India is and will be a soft state for eons to come. No one among our current crop of leadership/politicians has the galls to stand up and be counted.
I will end by saying that the militants/terrorists/our neighbors have gotten smarter when it comes to raging a proxy war on India - these are ominous signs so we better buckle up or we the common man will face the consequences. We are just underestimating our enemies - its a serious case of gov. short-sightedness.
These indeed are worrying time's for any Indian Citizen

Mumbai police is usually good on catching the guys(justice is another thing but atleast they get them) but we still have no clues about mumbai bomb blasts and even here the initial trends seem to say that the police are clueless. This is the last thing we want .. if terrorists believe they won't even be caught after the carnage they cause, god help us

Even if Terrorists are caught it would hardly dent their confidence, resolve or network - our justice system is toothless and not to mention they can be as active & act with equal impunity from our prisons. I would go on to even suggest that the terrorists might even feel safer in prisons then outside it
The time of symbolic gesture of parading terrorists on TV would hardly matter or should matter as the problem has grown to cancerous proportions, targeting civilians should be equated to genocide and somebody needs to wake up and clamp down hard on it. |

Well, thanks to him and his chamcha's legacy, today India is such a soft state.....
If people like Bhagat Singh/Subhas Chandra Bose and others had dominated, this wouldnt be the case....
Will I sometimes admire Gandhi's determination for sticking with the non-violence idea, I think it is totally stupid.....
You have to be aggressive..... |

But in our case we have taken "softness" to the nth level. Now the situtation is do whatever you want(even degrade our diplomats) and still we will not do anything.

what we have observed and followed is that we go on creating loopholes in the law book for criminals to escape.
remember Indira Gandhi`s murderers got hanged only after long wait. While rajiv gandhi`s murder trial vanished in air no knows where?
same thing has happened to a lot many commissins and inquiries.
we as a common citizen go on tolerating this kind of politicians and the go on cursing them more and more.
Remamber that military built up after the attack on Parliament and after it got suppressed like punctured tyre.
rightly said we do not have single leader who can put his chest to these wrong doings and can lead country against these things bravely.
we have a lot of fronts to tackle like Pakistan / China / Bangladesh / Srilanka, and from our internal side Kashmir / North East / Naxals in south / Communal terrorism / Punjab is getting agitated again.
May we be blessed. |

I know some of you dont agree with me, but hey !! This is a free country
Today, if we were to attack Pak, they would retaliate.
The best chance we had was in 1971....... Indira Gandhi should have gone ahead completely and taken back that part of Kashmir which is occupied by Pakistan..... And we should have occupied Pakistan completely..... Afterall it was part of India....
Today to be honest, what can we actually do ?? Cut all diplomatic ties ?? Thats it....
Even if we ban overhead flights and all that, it will affect india only in the long run. Coz pak will also ban Indian flights from using their airspace and this will result in extra consumption of fuel for Indians itself....
What else can anyone do now ?? |

I am afraid all our parties, whenever we even think of taking any action against any terrorists inside India bring out the votebank card.
