I don't think that such freedom is required if freedom means doing what you want.
Infact thats my major objection to the freedom seeking mongers on the net which in most cases seek it for all the wrong reasons. I see most debates on freedom where the freedom is freedom to drink, freedom to roam around, have bar girls and what not.
Imo as long as the popular culture is conservative where people value culture and traditions(and touch wood that should remain) we should strongly curb this nonsense. Fact is that these rogue elements do all that and then create a burden on the rest of us. how many times have these girls in drunk state been raped? And then some drunk fools ran over other people and killed them. Or created a nusiance for others. Its all too common.
If they just kept it to themselves, am sure no one would bother but these are the kind of habits that are not kept to yourself. They put a burden on society as a whole and when that happens society as a right to regulate such rogue elements.
And in so far as girls go, if girls also start drinking and smoking(which till date we used to blame on the husband(male) then heaven forbid what offspring they will produce. Till now atleast the mother would influence their kids in some positive way but if the kid sees such loose morality and ethical behaviour from childhood, the future is indeed bleak.
Even in US, if you go to the heartland, there is a renewed emphasis on valuing morality and your roots. Its only the vociferous "free" coastal areas that think otherwise.
