Police officers in the Northern Punjabi city of Patiala raided a rave party featuring a lot of drunk girls and some boys. Apparently the shouting and the atmosphere of the whole show disturbed the guests of the hotel who complained to the police.

A party of a lifetime in this Punjab town Monday ended on a wild note when a few tipsy youth, including mostly girls, clashed with the police after a raid.

Most of the youngsters were drunk when the police arrived to sort things out at a hotel on Bhupindra road here. The police intervened when people complained that the youth were getting out of control.

Some of the youngsters, especially the girls, were even thrashed by the police as they continued to create scenes there. One girl was slapped by a police official after she hit him. Other girls were beaten up by policewomen, according to sources.

Police officials said that over 40 boys and girls had gathered for the party. Some of them fled after the police arrived, but those who were completely drunk were rounded up and taken to a government hospital for medical examination.

No arrests were made till late on Monday night, the police officials added.

Imo thats how the police should behave with these punks. Finish the matter there and then with some slaps and let them go. Lesson Learnt

I fully support our law enforcement officers on this one. Such kind of misbehavior, especially from girls (in the name of freedom, liberty and fashion), is not to be tolerated at all.

Thats exactly the way one behaves when one is partying , is drunk and is having fun irrespective of whether the person is a he or a she. I don't see anything wrong in that. Yes , they should have best tried to avoid disturbing the surroundings but then its not such a terrible offense as its been made out to be. Anyways , I do not expect many people to understand my point of view here , so I will not debate any further on this issue.

I don't reckon it's a good thing for the police to be handing out corporal punishment, (when you're in a situation where strict guidelines can't be followed).... There's too great a chance, (in the heat of the moment), for tempers to be lost and overly forceful actions to take place, leading to the police themselves getting hauled up on assault charges...

Far better that everyone understands what the law has to say regarding parties, infractions can then be dealt with through local magistrates court and guilty parties punished in accordance with the law....

^^ Only thing is that left to courts(especially in these matters) nothing will ever happen and as it is courts have better long pending cases to attend to than hear drunk kids creating a brawl cases.
Imo in such cases its better that the police be empowered enough to take "proper action". If not hit a couple of slaps

fine the guys involved on the spot a "not too small" a amount.(Open to corruption though)
