Well... I have bought the TataSky box yesterday... the service is costing about 2999(The Equipment) + 1000(Installation + Activation) in whole... I will get to see all the star channels along with Sony(All channels) and Tensports and a few others too... MTV + [V] is also there... My main thing going in for star is service... My cousion is a dealer for both dish and TataSky and he tells me that Dish service sucks

... Sky is one of the top brands is UK when it comes to DTH services... The installation guys are coing tomorrow to set up the thing...

Also there are few interactive channels on the thing... That is i can pause the channel even if it is live

... looking forward for that

I have been using DISH TV for last one year.

Direct comparison between cable operator and DTH is not possible for two things.
Content : Some content of either will never be on each other platform ( i mean locally produced channels on Cable will never beon DTH likewise a few international channels will never be on Cable)

Picture Quality : Cable cant beat DTH here. DTH also have stereo sound. DTH has option of multible language if channels support it.

DVR : Facility : you do not need an extra DVR system on DTH platform. DISH and TSKY both are offering this service.

I was fully satisfied by the DISH tv Reception during last year. And now Star bouquet is also on air so i am right now renewing the DISH package for one year and then wait till TSKY stablises.

the price factor may be deciding factor for many. I am using DTH at clinic and Cable at home.

My cable operator shows some 70+ channels (including Star, Zee, SONY packages + [V], MTV etc. etc. you name it

). The service costs 165/- (incl. taxes) p/m. I guess DishTV or Sky won't be able to beat that pricing as of now. I'd love to go for DTH if I get all those channels for even 200/- p/m.
