Bad news fellows
The Indian Government has banned fashion tv for 2 months for allegedly showing programming thats indecent.



The transmission or retransmission of FTV on all platforms has been prohibited throughout the country with effect from April 1, an official statement said.

The channel has been banned for showing programmes that were against good taste and decency, denigrate women and likely to adversely effect public morality, it said.

The statement said government has noticed that some cable operators were transmitting or retransmitting a satellite channel - FTV.Com India, which was reportedly telecasting programmes such as Midnight Hot.

The said progamme was against good taste and, therefore, the government banned the channel in the country exercising powers conferred under the Cable Television Networks Regulation Act, 1995, the release said.


Well kind of on expected lines as if AXN was indecent, FTV was surely indecent The programme in question actually comes at 9:30 IST so clearly violates all guidelines.

How far off are trendz and zone relaity from being banned remains to be seen.

Boy am I surprised.

Too bad though, one thing the Government does not realize is the fact we moved on from FTV to Internet a long, long time ago.

don't count your chickens too early.
If there is a will, even Internet traffic can be regulated. Its done in many countries.

btw steps are already being taken to do that. The new IT act before the standing committee of the parliament is debating(according to CNN, its finalized) the following points.

• Regulation of porn sites on net esp the mms sites.
• asking the ISp to regulate and provide information about offenders. In case of non compliance, ISP will be bnned and the owner jailed.
• Shooting video's photos of people without consent and posting on net is now an offence while will have 10 years in jail. The ISP will be responsible for tracing the offender

among other things.
Basically the ISP's may well decide to ban the so called "porn" hosts instead of facing the trouble.

Lot of ppl have begun to misuse technology. Cell phones with camera is causing havoc, starting from teens to the old bolts, ppl takes snaps of pretty women and they upload it to lot of sites.
Really disturbing.

jokes apart, it also means that lot of things are going to get banned soon. Sites like youtube and orkut for starters. esp orkut cos of the tacit hookup rings bein run there.

This is bullshit.... Like people will stop taking pics and everything if these sites get banned.

As usual the govt is doing things without thinking at all.

remember some controversial videos

atleast it will lessen their motive to take those snaps buddy.
there are a number of x rated forums where even college group photos are being shared and lewd remarks being passed.

If govts ban them, they wont get anything useful with those pics and they might stop taking them.

But bannin youtube is really weird.
