In recent days a seemingly random group of individuals has emerged with what can only be described as special abilities.
Although unaware of it now, these individuals will not only save the world but will change it forever. This transformation for the ordinary to the extraordinary will not occur overnight. Every story has a beginning.
And so does this one.
The series follows in the footsteps of movies like Spiderman or X-Men, that chose the path of slightly more realistic superheroes. The heroes in this series are everyday people who one day realizes that they have extraordinary abilities, and are trying to figure out what to do with them. It’s brilliant storytelling that keeps the viewer interested by showing them just enough of each character to give them a flavor of who they are and what they can do before moving on to the next story. This will undoubtedly ensure viewers who will continue to tune in week after week to follow all of the stories.
Heroes does get at the true nature of many classic superhero storylines better than some similarly-influenced films and does it with a fair balance of seriousness and humor
Unlike other fantasy series such as Buffy or Charmed, which focused on silliness and sex appeal to garner an audience, Heroes works more like The X-Files in its willingness to take the unbelievable more seriously.
The special effects in this show are amazing. I wasn’t too sure what to expect when all of the action was unfolding, but, some of the effects were just absolutely astounding.
By taking the idea of superheroes and making them, as they have for years with comics, into real people in real-life situations they've supplied a tangible universe wherein the fantastic can occur.
According to NBC's official Web site, not only do the characters discover their superpowers, but they also uncover a larger picture concerning their superpowers' origins. The characters become involved in each other's lives as they attempt to evade the series' antagonist, Sylar, who is tracking and killing super-powered humans to use their superhuman DNA to his own ends.
In all, Heroes manages to successfully blend the far-fetched conceits of the comic book world with the weekly demands of an hourly drama—turning the multicolored panels of cartoon onomatopoeia into a slightly above-average, down-to-earth series surrounded in the otherworldly.
PS – I didn’t want to talk about the characters in detail as then the show would lose out its appeal. It’s a must watch for all comic book lovers and those who would love something more from their daily soaps or drama series.
This my friends is a must watch. Move over lost/prison break, there’s a new hero in town!
