I have no problems with this. I think human life is more valuable than an animal's (no offence to Ryan, Agnel and other animal lovers).

Recently in Bangalore there was this incident of a small girl being mauled to death by dogs. In this case, the sterilisation programme wouldnt have helped. The dogs went mad on seeing her and mauled her to death.

A few days after that, another small boy was killed a few metres away from his house. In the same way.

And another few days later, 2 more kids were mauled...but managed to survive.

In today's paper itself I saw the headline "SI and girl mauled by dogs". I dont think anyone died though....

It is high time this was brought under control. The ABC (Animal Birth Control) programme has been going on for ages and does not seem to have any effect. There are way too many dogs and they are dangerous.

I say kill them (or take them to a pound or whatever....). Just get them off the streets.

Near my friends' house there is a pack of stray dogs which have terrified the neighbourhood. Her aunt came in an auto and was walking towards her house when the dogs started chasing her. She started running and fell down and the dogs pounced on her and she got many bites. Luckily, some residents came out and chased those dogs away. She also broke her hand when she fell.

Imagine yourself in that situation. The sheer terror of being attacked by stray dogs....

I think the problem here in India is that we dont have value for life. Life is very cheap.

See the way the Americans or Europeans treat death. The value of an American or European life is so much more than an Indian life...

I will say if you don't wanna kill them then please do something to ensure they don't multiply.
I am not a animal hater but i don't like dogs from childhood. And that mentality is cos of stray dogs and the incidents of their biting around.

Its bad for the dogs also if we allow them to just leave a wretched life and everyday i see 10 dogs killed on the highway when i am driving around. How can those who say don't do anything justify this? For the sake of the dogs themselves, things need to be done. And unfortunately this is not America. Here human life itself isn't valued in hospitals how can you expect it for animals. Its a tough statement to make, bad one, but its a fact that this is India and not US where some better methods of control exist.

OMG !! I feel exactly the same way !! they used to chase me when I was cycling.... I hated dogs !! I truly hated them.

If this topic had been opened when I was 14 or so, I would have said Kill em all !!

but now, I dont hate them that much..... I still feel that human life is more important than some dogs...

But I will say this. If possible, dont kill them and just keep them in a dog pound or something....

and if you HAVE to kill them, at least do it humanely.... That I am very concerned abt. Please kill humanely. But of course those Brihanmumbai corporation or whatever wont be reading this thread

Completely agreed to the point that stray dogs r nuisance and deserve to be tkn care of...

in fact any animal straying in street is a danger to the human habitat.

animals either by attacking the people or by causing some accidents inadvertently create havoc for people.

i am in favour of castrating the animals, or even wiping them off if like nikhil said they start to kill human beings.

Castrating isnt working Doc...

In Bangalore, some NGOs have been working for a few years to sterilise them (same effect as castrating)...but still, no results.

@Sandeep --- There is. Give the dogs a good meal, a lethal injection and they go to sleep forever.

There was this incident I heard (dont know how true), but the authorities used to take the dogs, tie them to the middle of the railway track and wait for the trains to kill them.

Now, you see what I mean by "killing humanely" ??

Nikhil yaar, when you kill its killing, it can't be humane. Plus its not the dogs fault also. Frankly i dunno who's fault it is.

I am in favour of sterilization if it works but even there Ms Maneka Gandhi complained that the injections were not being administered properly. I mean please... we can do without that. No doc ever gave me an injection properly so i avoid them anyway
