Microsoft considering yahoo takeover!
Big time rumors hitting the US stock exchange today.
CNN and and major news sites are are both confirming the reported rumors that Microsoft is considering yahoo takeover to compete with Google
Next up on the rumour mill is Microsoft's takeover of Yahoo! According to the New York Post, talks have intensified since Google's successful bid for DoubleClick.
The theory is that Microsoft is looking for a quick way to improve its share of internet advertising. Yahoo!'s new ad platform Panama is just getting going and could provide the impetus for the deal.
The Post reckons the two have re-entered formal talks. Yahoo! could be worth as much as $50bn.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Shares of Yahoo soared in pre-market trading Friday after published reports suggested that Microsoft is pushing the Internet bellwhether to enter merger negotiations.
In a story first reported by the New York Post, and then reported by the Wall Street Journal on its Web site Friday, Microsoft (Charts, Fortune 500) is hoping that a combination Yahoo (Charts, Fortune 500) could help it catch up in the growing segment of online advertising and make up for it being outbid by rival Google (Charts, Fortune 500) for other companies in the space.
Yahoo shares shot up $5.73, or nearly 20 percent, in pre-market trading on the report, to $33.85, while Microsoft were little changed.
Oh and if thats not all, EMI and reuters are also under the takeover bug

Actually if this goes through, You can look at a very serious competition for google. MS on its own won't have the search engine popularity, but yahoo is a whole different ball game. Already in major programs like ads, YPN(yahoo's answer to adsense) delivers better performance in US than google.
MS can take over a huge chunk of traffic off google.
