All Latest presidential polls suggest that Barack Obama is now all set to become the 44th president of the USA. Obama enjoys a comfortable 4 to 5 point leads in the overall race and is leading all the main battleground states of Florida, Ohio, Missouri and Pennsylvania.
Opinion Polls have been wrong before but not anywhere by this big amargin and even a complete swing by the unsure voters won't save McCain now.
The results will come live tomorrow from 5AM IST. Thread Updated: Transcript of Barack Obama's Acceptance Speech, click here ----------------------------------------------

Anything can happen.
Though all the news channels are reporting that Obama would win hands down, I am not convinced.

Checking on the web, it turns out that Icelandic Vikings established the oldest continuous democratic parliament, (the Althing) which has been running since 930.
The Isle of Man also has a parliament democracy, (the Tynwald) which has been going since even earlier than Iceland, (starting in 979), but hasn't always allowed for universal suffrage...
In regards to the US, I found this:
The existing US government was not established in 1776, nor was it even the start of the Revolutionary war, which started in 1775. 1776 was just a year of declaring independence; it did not mean instant government formation.
The Constitution, which forms the basis for the modern US government only came into effect, by its own self definition, in 1788 and the government it defined started operations on March 4, 1789, even though Rhode Island did not ratify the document until the next year. Thus we must decrease the accounting to 218 or 219 years of continuous government depending on which date you select.
From 1861-1865 there were in fact, two governments that claimed sovereignty over 11 southern states, and those 11 states had no say in the federal election of 1864, nullifying their presidential democratic contribution in that election. After the Civil War the US congress considered the southern states as conquered provinces and set up martial law during post war reconstruction. Thus only a geographical part of the US can be said to have participated in a continual republican democracy, without military rule, since 1789.
The ruling of Texas vs White, in 1869, states the Supreme Court's position that the Union was indivisible and indissoluble matters little, as the above mentioned exclusion of democratic contributions can not be undone |

Obama wins New Hampshire county Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama emerged victorious in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire.
People in the village in New Hampshire's northeast corner voted just after midnight Tuesday.
It was the first time since 1968 that the village leaned Democratic in an election.
Obama's rival, Republican John McCain, won 6 votes.
A full 100 percent of registered voters in the village cast ballots. And the votes didn't take long to tally.

- Republican John McCain could become the oldest president elected to a first term.
- Sarah Palin could become the first woman elected vice president.
