OBC Quota and reservation policy

^^ 60 years is all that you see?
I've been working with org which help the poor and i have seen their plight.
Financial AID from govt? I know kids who don't get to eat three times a day.
For those kids to rise whats wrong with the reservation?

You gotta be one SC/ST to understand their pain.
We are all blessed to say the least.

maybe some form of checking the persons finances rather than just a caste certificate ? its pretty easy to get a certificate these days

You have to be a General Merit student to understand why we curse people with quotas.

A close friend of mine...he scored 1500 ranks below me. We were talking the day b4 our CET selection we'll take this seat under payment category.

I got into SJCE, under payment seat in Info Science. Meanwhile i learnt that he got into SJCE Computer Science with FREE SEAT just coz he's a friggin 2AG!!! bah. he was much richer than we, still he got a free seat, for a guy who put in less effort than me. Gets a better seat, still he pays just 1/6th of what I pay every year.

Is it fair?

And there is this SC/ST guy who joined thru diploma. some 30,000+ rank. got detained the same year. Had some better ranked guy got his seat, would his life have been better?

The way I see it, 90%+ of the SC/ST people who get in dont even deserve a engineering seat. They're hardly literate, just waste their lives, govt will pay for their education, ruin other ppl's lives by not giving them opportunity instead.

Oh yeah...A friendof mine gave his home in rent to a couple+ their mom. Now he wants to vacate them, those ppl wont go out. Turns out they are SC/STs. So they file a flase case against my frined that they called him a SC/ST. Friend got jailed, then family had to pay a HUGE bribe to the SC/ST ppl just to withdraw the case. Same happened to my father 15 years ago.

this quota system has just created riffs amongst the countrymen.

it has nevr served its purpose and it never will.


sunny`s case is an example so is mine.

i missed the first choice speciality branch after doing my graduation for 0.01 percentage difference over 4.5 years scores. while the seats for ST category went unfilled, there were tears in my eyes when i came out of counselling room selecting second choice speciality.

while those in SC and ST have lukury of selecting any specialities and we keep on loosing.

I have many a collegues who were children of a scientist in a top GOI institute, an army office, a doctor, a govt officer and still they got admissions in quotas, bullshit. how can a son or a doctor of a principal of a college can even be considered a backward.

we seriously need to rethink this strategy. either we need some reformists and or some dedicated youth, who impart better facilities in primary and secondary education at the grass roots level and after 2-3 decades we can have fruits of that hard work.

this type of system will just create more divisions amongst Indians.

i have Jains campaigning for being included in to the minorities so they get the benefit of quotas.

i dont know where it will stop, but if this continues for long this definitely will take India to civil war.

Beware of Quotas and water distributions these are the two perils which will have far reaching imprints on Indian History.

SC upholds OBC quota, keeps creamy layer out
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a law which provides for 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Castes (OBCs) in educational institutions supported by the Central government.

A five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan ruled that the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006, does not violate the basic structure of the Constitution.

I have nothing to say. Its just bad luck these days to be an open category male student though. Creamy layer, yeah right, everyone gets the certificates for non-creamy layer in no time. If it goes to people who deserve it, fine, but tit never happens. What is the fault of a Brahmin child born in a poor family? Will we fight the past and carry it. Then why have problems with other issues.

have suffered as a brahmin throughout. looks like shortly they will reduce us to a position where we will start needing a quota

Now fellows, get ready. Private sector reservation is bound to happen. Its a matter of time now. To say that its not possible is more out of hope than anything concrete.
Yes some companies will go out of India but not many. Fact is if the government wants it that way, companies will have to oblige. There is a huge market to be had in India.

I can only lament by quoting N R Narayana Murthy.

an ilfated day in indian history imo.

there will protests and what not now

but it wont affect us much in gujarat as we already have reservations for OBCs since 1985. so situation in gujarat remains status quo.
