Ban me, kill me, delete my post, whatever. That is the basic farking truth.
Reservations were implemented by B R Ambedkar (whose b'day it is today) for 10 years. These goddamned criminals and rowdies(who are the best actors in the world.... they have pretended to be our national leaders and politicians for 62 yrs) have just exploited the people of our country.
Our country is doomed. I am even ashamed to call it My country. I used to take pride in calling myself an Indian and not a Kannadiga or a Hindu or a Brahmin at one time.
I am so disgusted, if there was an opportunity, I would just leave the farking country. I cant and unfortunately being the thinking person I am, have to see this once great country go to the dogs.
Over and out.
India doesn't suck!
Take a look at the ones who clean INDIA? they are all belonging to the economically lower sector. They work harder than the ones who are doing well, but still they don't get what each of us are blessed with.
Last week in CNN IBN i saw one Citizen journalist talkin about a man who cleans human wastage directly by getting into one drainage without any protection. He does that for a living. If he says India sucks I would say he says that in pain, one can even empathize with him.
Inspite of being blessed with so many good things in life, if you say that? What do you expect us all to tell u? I don't even feel like empathizing with you!

re: OBC Quota and reservation policy
Agnel, there are some people who think it is cool to mock their countries. They think they are very bold strong men for mocking their own countries.
We will remain patriots and we will continue to push the backward people up, regardless of whether they deserve it or not. Helping the backward will only reward all the future generations of India.
And it is true that there are many people who really waste their college admission only because their parents are rich enough to afford it. That is an even worse waste of education.

It is exactly because people like him still have to do such work that I make such statements.

I dont know you, but if you want to believe me, believe me that I am not one who thinks of being cool. If you knew me better, you would realise that.
Giving reservations is not the way to "push people upwards". That is the most idioitic stupid thing people think.
You need to make them feel at one with the society, give them equal opportunities.
For that as I said at the beginning of this thread, the basic education system should be strengthened so that OBCs, SC, STs, Brahmins and everyone can compete on an equal footing.

re: OBC Quota and reservation policy
I think its a bit dangerous to have extreme opinions on this subject.
For starters i think the reservations are failing, have failed and left as it is will continue to fail. Ask the basic question, do you, the upper caste, treat the person who came up with reservation on equal level? I don't think anyone does. But yes, if that person, then shows his own capabilities, his children rise up, then you won't ask his children his caste, actually in my case, i can't even tell a persons caste from his surname.
But i will tell his status if he takes the reservation route. Now lets come to the other part. IF that person after taking reservation, shines, i have no problem at all. But to give him reservations continuously on bad performance is not a good idea at all.
Promotions should be on merit. Once you are in, have benefitted from reservations, you should then show your merit. Look the basic premise here is that the person doesn't have the money to study or doesn't have the social standing to rise. Once you ahve reached a level, you should strive yourself.
And thats why to the extent of providing reservations till graduation, am fine as a person of low social standing should be given the fillip to rise up but not beyond that. After a basic level, it should be free for all. Having said that discrimination or favoritism should be dealt with in strong terms. Everyone should be equal.
How can i as a person go to a doctor who doesn't know his subject. Who hasn't studies enough but has become what he has by reservations. Can you play with lives of people just to promote some caste. Yes past wrongs have been done but two wrongs(the wrong of reservation at PG) won't make a right.
I love my country but i love my rights too. I believe in equality and i believe everyone has or should have the same rights and opportunities to rise up. After a level, merit should be the only criteria that should matter. For everyone's sake.

re: OBC Quota and reservation policy
Nikhil,
I'm afraid it is very difficult to get to know people well on the internet, and honestly I dont see the point of knowing anything personal about you, no offense please
I said that they should push the backward people up, give them the resources and opportuities they didnt have. Probably among the 27% that take admission from this generation only 25% may be able to take advantage of it.
But atleast they will not live in huts, and hopefully they will be able to have a career that gives them enough money to save for their chldren's education.
Nikhil, there are many poor/lowcast/obc (whatever you like to call) who struggle a 100 times more than any of the uppercaste students during their junior-school and school years.
They study more than any upperclass student and get the high grades from their board exams, and then they find that the price of the text books for courses like BE and MBBS are about 10 times the salary of his parents. And that travelling to college even by bus or train is going to bring his entire family into poverty.
The government does have schemes to take care of such students, for example free books (which they return after the course) free hostel accomodation, scholorships, etc, etc.
But it is because of the high caste people once again that the poor cannot take full advantage of this.
I know plenty rich students who will make friends with the librarian and submit some false certificate claiming that they are poor and take away all the benifits meant for the real poor.
So once agian nikhil, the rich people will never give the poor what they deserve, and it is better to give them reservations than to wait for the situation to get so worse that they will resort to violance to take what is rightfully there.

re: OBC Quota and reservation policy
Just wanted to add another point...
India has long been listed as one of the most corrupt countries in the world. Few years back it was ranked 90 out of 130 countries, which is realy very bad for a big countryl like India.
In recent years corruption has decreased a lot, which is very good. But for the past 6 decades from Independence till 2000 India was a considerably corrupt.
Now whom does this corruption gain and whom does it harm?
Obviously the people doing the corruption are the ones who are in power and who hold positions of power.... i.e. the high class people, or what you may call the middle class.
There have even been cases that govt. officials will sell food meant for the starving poor. All these people doing the corrutpion for the past 5 decades are not the obcs, they are the people who hold positions of power in government or society.
Once again you can debate as to how much or who this corruption has harmed. You can safely say that the corruption of the high/middle class has claimed the lifes of many low-castes because the food and medicins meant for them didnt reach them.
So once again it comes down to the simple point... the upper/higher class people will never ever give the poor backward class people what they deserve, they will infact try to snatch what they have. So this makes reservations even more important.

I agree with you safin! But I presume that people who qualify for the IIM type colleges would surely have some stuff to be right there. Apart from reserving seats, the panel should also check if the candidate has enough skills/knowledge to deserve that seat. As you said, before he can get a seat, he has to be filtered, then before he completes his degree he needs to be closely monitored. But these days with corruption in place, anything is possible.
I am not agreeing to blind reservation, but yes to an extent it is okay!
I have seen the benefits of reservation myself. There was a poor guy from south tamil nadu, who came to my college cos of reservation. He was a hardworking guy from a very poor family and tamil was his medium of education. He worked really hard to learn english first, then the college course. Now he is working in mumbai and has already been to UK twice. I am sure, if he writes any of these qualifying exams and if he does qualify then he might have the skills to be right there, but he would have missed it cos he didn't have enough money to go for the tuition classes or mock exams which the rich folks can easily afford. That gives the edge, the extra 2-3 %. thats what ppl say, i've never written any such exams

re: OBC Quota and reservation policy
^What you are saying might be true for a very limited number of ppl...yes, there are many who come from backward classes and do not evn have the resources to help them get proper education..But there is a larger number of those who use their backward class tag to an undue advantage to get into a good college/job which cud have deservingly gone to a general candidate who fought all his way thru without any reservation or anything..do you think tht general candidates cannot come from a poor background? there are many general candidates who cannot afford to be at a good college too, so who's going to look after them? Dont they deserve reservation too? The seats for economically backwards class are very few and they hardly help...
It really sucks, this reservation system...i've gone thru the pain of losing a seat in a good college myself bcos some sucker with much less marks had a creamy layer certificate and he got priority over me.. All my hard work was waste?
It seems like now, we, general candidates, need reservation more than them.. And i agree with sardaar, atleast when it comes to a profession tht deals with human lives, there shud be no reservations at all...what the hell?? you are literally playing with the lives of human beings...its a crime! and still, it happens in india...
Nowadays, toh i've literally started checking the last names of doctors before i risk my life to him/her.. Who knows, it cud be some sucker with 2nd class grades in college, who doesnt know jack about medicines..
