> Of seawater and milk..........

Those of ya'll watching the news will have known by now that there's a strange (actually not that strange) phenomenon occuring over at the Mahim Creek in mumbai which is pretty close to the Makthum shah baba dargah. The salty seawater has been turning sweet and to top it people are drinking it.

Breaking news right now is that idols of hindu gods/godesses are drinking milk in MP and UP.

Now imho (and not from a religious angle but purely scientific and that of a studying mind) all this is sheer insanity. Tests have been run on the so-called sweet water at mahim and turns out that it obviously not potable nor good for health. Contains a good amount of nitrates, and other harmful substances. Also imho the cause for the seawater turning sweet is probably the result of the "Mithi" river which empties out at the Mahim creek. Its more of a natural phenomenon than a supernatural one, still people are choosing to drink this water which has been confirmed as hazardous. So is it a case of blind faith winning over common sense ?

Similar is the case with the milk drinking idols and this isn't a entirely new phenomenon................

PS: donot turn this into a religious debate.

As they say Faith can move the Mountains.

But Blind Faith can move both Mountains and People.

Its the case of blind faith taking over any sane viewpoint - no matter how far India advances in the field of science and technology we would always have such incidents.

I just hope that sea water does not cause any illness down the road - say after few weeks - that would be real sad

Whats more sad is some people are pushing it as holy water with healing properties

Actually some ppl will never stop doing such things...even if they r given scientific reasons.........

For those so called Quacks/Healers it is a mighty good opportunity to restrengthen their positions.

So why is the water sweet - Healers say God's Message - Miracle - "Healing Water".

Anything out of normal is either "Gods will or the Devils deed" - thats how this has all been working for eons in India

well..its plain insanity is wat i would say......but then, in india you would always get people who would believe in every damn thing related to "god".... and there are millions of them here....... you cant stop em... saw it on tv that even when the police were announcing that the water is not potable... people stil ldrank it.... and when someone falls sick? they will still blame the gov for it? for wat reason??

bah!! and well...what to comment on the idol issue??
