PT Usha humiliated in Bhopal

A humiliated PT Usha broke down after she was not given proper accommodation at the National Athletics Meet in Bhopal.The sprint queen, who was accompanying an athletics team as a coach, was reportedly made to share her room with five others.

When Usha asked for a better accommodation she was reportedly refused by the officials. As a result, Usha broke down into tears in front of the media.

Teary-eyed Usha said.
This incident comes a day after World Boxing Champion MC Mary Kom complained of sub-standard accommodation and food during National Boxing Championships.

The event comes as a huge shock to the nation which is preparing itself for a mega event like the Commonwealth Games.Not a one-off case, such incidents have repeatedly shown that sportspersons need proper accommodation and facilities to better their achievements.

There's a lot of doubt about the ability of India to provide arenas worthy of the CW Games in the light of Victorian Premier John Brumby's visit to India............

I don't doubt that India can get the job done, but there seems to be a huge number of issues, security, natural disasters, political instability, racial & religious tension, the ongoing economic climate, a malevolent neighbour, (china), a practically failed state, (Pakistan), an ongoing insurgency (Afghanistan) and a rogue state to the south (Burma)....

All these things seem to be conspiring to divert the attention of the authorities from the Games... If India can get the job done in time, it'll be a credit to everyone involved....... (especially the poor sods doing the hard-yards for less than 2.00 dollars a day)

I Agree with Patch. It would be a miracle for India to do anything

On the other hand, there is another side to this story. We all complain why are athletes being paid lot of money and given so much of attention. I agree they deserve basic needs(which indian officials overlook most of the times).

It's not right, the workers are toiling on behalf of the nation and not even getting a sustainable wage, i'll lay odds that the engineers & project managers running the show, (and the politicians involved) are raking in the big bucks....

They could at least pay the workers a half decent wage...............
