Reports say he was submissive and didnt offer any resistance...just gave in...

They also suggest he had fear written all over his face during the formalities..understandable as its nt the same as gng to battle n getting killed...

you have to understand that is being said by the Iraqi fellow. He can't say anything else. I doubt Saddam will fear this. He has lived by the sword and should have expected this.


As far as fighting back, it won't have meant anything really. You can't fight back from his position. You can only go out in dignity and hopea lot of people feel good about the way you went.

i'd say this came 20 years too late.. but they should've let him rot in prison and not kill him..

mental strength wasnt the case here.. he knew if he pleaded, the "strong-man" image would be gone.. the retaliation by sunni attackers would lose steam..

The link which safin posted doesnt show the execution. The video which was released to news channels is different. It shows Saddam being spoken to a few minutes before he was hanged. The hangmen with black masks covering their faces are seen talking to him.

But they dont show the final scene of him hanging.

Anyway my take on this:

Saddam deserved the death penalty. Not once, but a hundred times over.

But not at the hands of another murderer. Bush should have joined him in the gallows. Bush is no less a criminal than Saddam. If Saddam deserves the death penalty, so does Bush.

I cant say the same thing abt Blair simply coz I feel he was powerless. He is too stupid and weak to make his own decision. As they say, he was just the poodle. He is guilt y of many things but he isnt as bad as Bush.

And they killing him just on the eve of a Muslim festival is ridiculous.

Sometimes I wonder what exactly Bush is doing. I mean, even he cant be that dumb (or is he ? ? ). I hope trouble doesnt erupt in IRaq again but cmon....who would be surprised if it does with more intensitiy ??

America is screwed. No other way to put it. They cant run away, they cant handle the situation. Many many more young American kids are going to killed in Iraq.

All I can say is I hope this doesnt go on for as long Vietnam went on.

But with Saddam's execution, I see a very small chance of Iraq being united again.
