Saved by Helmet
Had a meet Mr.Accident y'day night.
A bike guy came from the road in left, without any light in bike, and to my bad luck i didn't notice him coming, he hit my front wheel and he managed to speed away, but i lost balance after applying the brake and fell down. First thing which hit on the road was my chin area in the helmet, i still can't forget the impact it casused (due to the shock my lips got screwed by the teeth). Apart from that there are very few minor scracthes in my hand and in the right knee. Nothing happened to the bike except for the leg guard which was totally bent by 90c. Oh and i was speeding at 40~50kmph only.
Ok enough of the story.
If not for the helmet i can't imagine what would have happened, it was a really bad fall. The helmet was barely 2 weeks old, don't think my old helmet would have handled it. Got it for Rs.2500. Thank god for making me buy a good helmet. Second thing which happened was, i was thinking of buying a new gloves from dollars and pounds for past one month after loosing my old one, only y'day morning i was telling that to bottle while passing that store by the car. Had i bought that, i would have avoided the injuries in my hand .
Ok enough of rants
What i want to knows, is there any soul in FE or anyone who knows
1.Doesn't have a helmet
2.Use it to protect their helmet lock instead of his head.
3. Have that new type of helmet which doesn't have protection in the chin area.
If i had that helmet mentioned in the 3rd point, i would have been screwed y'day.
I would like to tell my fellow FE members to wear a helmet which is good in quality and protection instead of wearing it to avoid fines or thinking that you'll loose your hair(for girls). I would also request even the pillion rider to wear a helmet.

Re: Saved by Helmet
Ohh boy!! Saiyan, 40-50 kmph is enuf speed to get bruised, scratched badly and maybe evn get a few fractured bones.. I read somewhr tht human beings cannot tolerate hard impacts above speeds of 15 kmph.. So u are really lucky! And yes, u are right, a good helmet goes a long way to save your head and your face. Btw, i have a half face helmet like u mentioned in the 3rd point. it doesnt have protection in the chin area.. I actually had a full face helmet b4, but its weight used to strain my neck like anything..so i bought a half face helmet, since it was light weight. Damn! seems like it was not such a good idea.
Take care, man! Keep ur hands of ur bike for sometime now.

Re: Saved by Helmet
Actually, i didnt buy it bcos it looked cool.. i bought it cos it was somewhat lighter than the full face helmet... but yes, i agree, it doesnt help much when it comes to protection.
So yeah, suggest me a full face helmet which is really light weight.

Re: Saved by Helmet
One more incident which i would like to share with you guyz :
My dad friend who is a doctor usually goes to work place in his Honda Activa sometimes. Seems that i was really nearby. Can't really seem him without his helmet. But one fine morning, he went to get milk in his Activa, but met with accident inside the streets itself, he didn't even go to the main road. Had a really bad injuries in his head and he was in coma for someday.

I heard that GPR helmets are light weight as they are made of fibreglass shells. I'll check those out when i go to get a new helmet this week and let you know. Be ready to shell out 2~2.5k for these.
The helmet which i had is quite heavy, but when i weared it, i felt comfortable than any other helmet i have used so far.

Re: Saved by Helmet
Always buy Wrangler Helmets
O thats the ad before MTV Roadies show.
Man lucky escape and this is testimonial enough if ever needed that you should not compromise on quality when your own safety is involved. I know a lot of fellows just wear the 700 bucks helmet and that too cos the traffic police told them to wear but at the end of the day its your head and your life.
Now i am also worried about driving my crap Zen Safety ke naam pe dhabba
