Cool Simo Hayha: Most successful Sniper in World

Simo Häyhä, a Finnish sniper operating during the Winter War between Finland and Russia just before WWII, had over five hundred confirmed kills using iron sights.
The unofficial Finnish frontline figure from the battlefield of Kollaa places the number of Häyhä’s sniper kills at 542. A daily account of the kills at Kollaa was conducted for the Finnish snipers. Häyhä used a Finnish variant, M28, of the Soviet Mosin-Nagant rifle (known as “Pystykorva” rifle), because it suited his small frame (5 ft/1.52 m). He preferred to use iron sights rather than telescopic sights to present a smaller target (the sniper must raise their head higher when using telescopic sights) and aid concealment (sun reflecting off telescopic sight lenses can reveal a sniper’s position).
Besides his sniper kills, Simo Häyhä was also credited with as many as two hundred kills with a Suomi M-31 SMG submachine gun, thus bringing his credited kills to at least 705. However, the latter claim has never been substantiated. All of Häyhä’s kills were accomplished within 100 days prior to injuries caused by an enemy bullet. Häyhä’s record of an average of 5 kills a day, almost one kill per daylight hour of the short winter day, is unique.

This guy has to be the deadliest serial killer out there... Only thing is his killing spree had the approval of the government. So he may have been termed a hero..but a kill is afterall a kill. And just because a government terms it as righteous doesnt necessarily mean tht it is so..
Tht is why i dont understand this law and order thing...what is right and what is wrong? if a citizen kills another citizen, it is termed as a grave offense and the offender is sent behind bars or is hanged. But the armed forces kill so many in the name of enemies but still they are given bravery awards. Its just a feel good thing tht u are killing an enemy, but the enemy is also a human being. So when you are killing a human being, you are committing a grave offense.

And if there is any such thing as heaven and hell, where all the offenses of a soul are counted, it wud still be termed as killing another human being...because god surely doesnt understand or favor governments or does he??

So what makes these ppl feel good while they die tht they are killing and dying for the country and it is a righteous thing to do?? What do countries and boundaries mean on a broader plane?? Isnt it said tht god doesnt discriminate among his disciples..??
So why is the person toting a gun on the other side of the boundary always wrong and you are right?

The more i think over it, the more i'm perplexed..

Agreed war is inevitable...but what if a paid assassin with a barret had a similar figure to his name?? Then how does the equation change there? All of a sudden it becomes all wrong? Well isnt even he getting paid for his work like a soldier? Just because the government doesnt approve his killing spree so it is wrong? And what about the numerous assassins government sends to other countries as spies. They too do the same dirty work...but just because they are working for the government and are certified to kill, it is covered up.
this is what i think is wrong...afterall who gives the government the right to carry out such activities for which a normal citizen maybe punished?
It just proves tht the law is only for the innocent law abiding citizens...government has the right to make or break any rules as and when they seem fit..

Come on dood... There is only one rule in war. Kill or get killed. The guy survived. What is wrong in that?

No re, u got me all wrong there..i have nothing against this guy...he is just carrying out the orders of his superiors and who are in turn carrying out the orders of their government.
But,in broader terms, i'm just confused about the wrong and right part of killing someone...how the governments use ppl to carry out their dirty activities in the name of the country. Thts all..it seems law is only for us citizens...every offense for which there is a law for the innocent citizens is carried out by the government and its secret service agencies like killing, sabotaging, forgery and what not..and yet, there is no punishment for such acts because it is approved by the government...

It seems like even our conscience is shaped by the government. When the government says tht you are fighting for the country, all of a sudden it seems right to kill the enemy..even the citizens then laud the war veterans as heroes. But only a soldier can tell you how it feels to look into the eyes of the enemy and pull the trigger.

Neways, i think this discussion is wavering far from the topic so lets just cut it here.. its not going to take us anywhere..law and the citizens are puppets in the hands of the government..they can twist and turn any string they want to..

Dude, that is saving ur country. Agreed, US Military operations are bullshits. But when it comes to saving ur own land, u gotta be ruthless, kick some a$$, get urself in shit and what not. Coz it is YOUR land, and even if saving it takes ur life, it is worth it...

PS: Ehh yeah, discussion goin in some other direction. But though wrong, the direction is interesting
