So whose Bombay is it anyway?

Today i was shocked to see what happened on the streets of mumbai, with the Raj Thakeray's men rioting and beating up innocent ppl, taxi drivers and hawkers and just about everyone they thought was not a maharashtrian. It is such a shameful incident in a free and liberal country like india where ppl from all parts of the country migrate to cities in other states, and make those cities their home and even contribute to economy of the city and the state. Is this how you honor or show your gratitude to such ppl? I'm sure even maharashtrians wudnt relate with what happened today here...do you think those political ba$tards really care for the common people or the Maharshtrians?? All they want is to gain more votes by fooling ppl by such heinous acts..

I really have this question for the Mahraashtrians here..do you think what happened here was right?

I'm not a Maharashtrian, but i've been staying in Maharashtra for more than a decade now. I can speak and understand Marathi and consider Mumbai to be my home forever. I love it more than any other place in this world. So am i not a part of Mumbai??

People like Raj and his followers ought to be beaten, hanged, drowned and quartered in public for all to see and learn. Regionalism is one serious problem with this country, and has been one for hundreds of years. It is because of pure political reasons that such elements are nurtured for preaching to the choir, attended by idiots in herds - affectionately known as voters.

aah here we go again! the thing the ordinary Maharashtrain does not care about these tactics, they want to see development and not communal riots. But alas the politicians have no other way to entice the voters than resort to such tactics. Tell me do you really see development happening?? if it is there its quite slow and quite unplanned to say the least!
Anyways, I bet if the bhaiyyas, biharis, gujjus and marus left Mumbai then the city will no longer be the financial capital of the country, it will just be Maharashtra's capital, a fishing village and no more.

Me being a maharashtrian, never felt even for a bit, that this would be the outcome of Raj's once sentence against AB & its not about Maharashtrians or Bhaiiyas, its about two POlitical party playin blame game

I mean no offense to any1 but to think of it logically, if what raj thakeray wants to do, tht is drive off all non maharashtrians from mumbai, do you think mumbai as the commercial capital of india will survive?? Take away the gujjus and the stock market will come crashing down..take away the marwadis,punjabis and muslims and most of the business and trade in mumbai will come to a halt...take away the uttar radeshis and biharis and the commuting in mumbai will become a nightmare bcos the majority of taxi drivers here are from there..the entertainment industry here is equally filled up with ppl from all parts of the country from UP to west bengal to the southern states..most hotels here are run by the shettys from south...

Drive all these ppl away and see what happens to the economy of mumbai.. Ppl forget this simple thing tht like major metropolises around the world, u cannot claim a city like DElhi or Mumbai for one single community as majority. As long as India remains a secular, liberal and free country, such kind of atrocities cannot and shud not be tolerated.

I still wonder how come Raj thakeray has not been arrested yet for inciting communal violence in a public place. This just shows how much power and resolve the law enforcement agencies in india have.

Raj shud understand that he still has to get his feet rooted in politics, by such stunts he wont any popular

also spkg abt non-maharashtrians, they are the bloodline of Mumbai, we wont let them feel insecure, ways....

IMO it was just a showdown between two Political parties, last time it happened in the name of religion, now in name of communities

either ways, the loss is of Mumbai itself, more of this & no MNC would love to invest in this City, as it is big IT giants are running away from Mumbai in search of Cheap Setup.

Mumbai today is crowded no doubt becos of influx of ppl from other states but not all are a burden to the city...many are actually contributing to the state and the city. as for the unscrupulous ppl, they have no religion or faith. Their only motive is to cause harm to ppl...such persons cud be anybody, a maharshtrian, a bhaiyya, a bihari, a punjabi, a bengali, bangladeshi or just about anybody...why dont these politicians target such ppl?? why the normal middle class working ppl who mean no harm to anyone?? they have their own problems to solve than try to harm others..
