Big B gifts 'Aishwarya' school to Amar Singh

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has got a special birthday gift from Amitabh Bachchan.

Amitabh gifted a higher secondary girl's school in Barabanki to Amar Singh on Sunday.

The school is called Aishwarya Bachchan Girls Inter-College and is named after the Bachchan daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

And Aishwarya delivered a perfect speech on the occasion.

"I was a little hesitant when the family decided to name the school after me since there are so many other seniors in the family already. I think it would have been more appropriate to name it after them. But now that they have convinced me, I want to ensure that I live up to their expectations," Aishwarya said.

The school is being built in Daulatpur, the same village where Amitabh had earlier bought some land.

A court later ruled that the land had been bought using forged papers but Amitabh got a reprieve from Allahabad High Court.

The inauguration ceremony of the school was converted into a full-blown political event with more than a dash of glamour.

The entire Bachchan clan as well as top United National Progressive Alliance (UNPA) leaders like Om Prakash Chautala and Farooq Abdullah were present on the occasion.

Amitabh's gesture comes in the wake of the CNN-IBN story of two girls in Patna who were abandoned by their parents apparently due to poverty.

The two girls have now got their parents back and also been admitted to the school. They, too, were present at the function.

Between you know what....I dont think Aish's gonna join, but Aby Baby will surely join, as he hasn't got much movies at his hands. I think AB will push AB jr. to take revenge against Gandhi family in UP

Well, these days, when the celebs realize tht their movies are not doing good enuf, they head for the next best option which is equally lucrative or maybe evn more lucrative than cinema... Quite possible tht AB jr. will follow his dad into politics..if not now then some years down the line...afterall cinema career lasts only for a few decades at the most..but political career in india can last as long as u are alive...

Looking at aishwarya in the way she was dressed and the way she spoke on the occasion it almost seemed like she was preparing herself for a later innings in politics..

God help india if one day she manages to take up an important post in indian politics, thanks to Mr. Bachchan and tht , Amar Singh...

Big B will win hands down in UP. But he won't compete now.
As for Amar Singh, well as long as he hangs around with the right folks(Ambani, BigB, famous celebs and industrialists) he will always have great value for Mulayam.

Trouble is in all likelihood the next election will throw in another skewed parliament and Mulayam (OR Mayawati) might well become king or queen makers and in the process become ministers. So be prepared to see some streets also named after Aish

True...he is always looking for famous names tht can draw in more and more ppl to his election rallies...tht is why he always brings along Bachchan, Ambani and other such big names..Ppl who dont give a damn about his party, still come only to see their heroes..many illiterate ppl then end up voting for them...

And now he has got another trump card, Aishwarya rai...tht'll gather more ppl to his party functions and rallies..

Aish does not drive people. She does not have the same kind of appeal as BigB does have. yes people might turn up to watch her, but thats just that. On the other hand people will do what AB tells them to do.
