I dont want to sound too old or too judgemental but i was flipping channels and came across Tom n Jerry on Cartoon Network....it was one of the new episodes....
It was utterly rubbish to say the least...the animation for the lead characters was crap....the background had no detail....the music some plain jane crap....and worst of all the strip didnt have any urgency to it!! i mean whats Tom n Jerry without a lil bang...boom...clang...running around etc....
And this is the case with almost all cartoons shown on cartoon network....they are just too sweet for no reason
God i miss Power Zone, The Mask, etc etc...

Then there is the Youngistan crap and latest ad in the series....i mean its pure nonsense...cant these guys come up with anything remotely interesting???

And the good old days of parody movies are long gone and we get to watch crap like Meet the Spartans...Date Movie....and blah blah...
Whatever happened to Hot Shots??? The Naked Gun Series??? or for that matter even Scary Movie 1 n 2 were good...but its been all downhill since then....

These just few things on the top of mind right now but there are so many other such things happening everyday....

Cartoons are prime example like you mentioned. TOm and Jerry is not even funny any more. There is not a single new cartton i can watch again. Now i have watched talespin, ducktails, old tom and jerries, mask, mickey mouse dunno how many times. Every time enjoyable, funny and awesome. Is there a single Don Karnage out there now, a character you can associate, an outstanding piece of art?


The fact is there is a crunch of ideas, there is fear of breaking the barriers. People want to follow trends, sex, drugs violence sells so give them more. Even cartoons. How many choose to be different these days? Everyone is making a reality tv show.

The lesser we talk about the films the better. lamentable state of the world.

What do you mean all the galleries?
Go and look at the gallery main page. Yaa we have celebs, but we have lot of clean stuff. The same on forums. You can count the ahmm ones in thousands of others.
Remember i didn't say we were setting the standards also. We sure tried to do that initially, it doesn't work.

Things change for the good or for the bad.. But they change

@movies :- some of the movies are really worth mentioning in these days too.. At times we convince ourselves that movies these are worthless and so we feel that way. Same thing has happened with me.. Since last few years i havent liked Hindi movies (barring couple).

Well Bro, its all about creativiity and ideas...and when it is overdone, the creativity is lost. And tht is what is happening to classic cartoons like Tom n JErry. Imagine the technology tht was in place in the 60s and 70s..and yet, the tom and jerry episodes produced during tht time were so hilarious. It cud even make a granny smile...We still sometimes watch T&J, me and my dad and he just loves it. Its so funny tht it cud make anyone, no matter his/her age, laugh like a 10 year old kid..the facial expressions of both the characters, their antics and the overall creativity employed in the script made it such a classic.
Unfortunately, the newer episodes, especially tht stupid tom & jerry kids is not at all funny. They are boring to say the least.

Same holds true for commercials. Agreed commercials have come a long way since the humble days of nirma washing powder and dabur hajmola and many others, and they have seemingly gotten more complex, they demand attention, but many new ads are equally pathetic in execution and script...i agree, tht youngistan ad is crap...and there are many more examples. Today, ads are more about razzmatazz and glossy appeal...but ultimately, the script remains as important today as it was half a century back.
