Youtube has launched its India specific site which will now show videos and channels tailor made for an Indian audience.

Youtube India has gone live today, with a host of Indian content partners - NDTV, UTVi, Bindass, Zoom and Indiaglitz are broadcast partners, content from Rajshri Media, and music related content from Music Today (part of the India Today group) and PhatPhish Records. There’s sports related content from KrishCricket as well, and educational videos from NPTEL (IIT and IIS JV) and IGNOU. A few non-profit partners as well.
India is now the 20th Country to have a specific domain. This helps because when Indian users go on to YouTube, the portal is able to detect so and it then feeds these users with only ‘Indian’ Promoted Videos. A classic case of segmentation, which will drive more advertisers to sign up on YouTube’s advertising platform.
