I noticed the black flashy car approaching our shop. With full speed it glided and stopped in front of the shop. I took a step on its shining window in which I could see my dirty face and dirty clothes, which had patches on them.

My face disappeared and man’s face appeared. His cheeks were hanging from his face and had a beefy looking face sitting on a thick neck. He inquired: “ what do you have to offer today??” “Sir! Green tea, pink tea, plain tea………… you name it!” He looked at his wife, a huge woman who was extraordinarily dressed and was like an over decorated doughnut.

“Get us green tea, also put two table spoons of sugar in one cup and none in other” she demanded. The man shook his head as he waved his hand to send me away. I saw the gold watch on his hand and three diamond rings he wore: “ right away Sir!” I said and ran towards our shop. My small bony hands took the tray from Jamal who was the owner of the shop as well as he prepares the order. I walked towards the car.

Once again the window came down. After asking which cup had how many sugar the man took the cups and passing one to his wife. I waited to hear what was the next order for me next. : “ Hmmm… boy my tea does not have sugar in it.” Said man after sipping the tea “Oh! My god, you gave me the wrong cup, mine has sugar! You have ruined my diet.” Screamed the wife.

Fear spread to my entire body. “sir I told you sir….” But the man was not listening to me. “I am not paying you for this. You are not getting any money and don’t even think about the tip” I gathered my confidence and said “sir you have already received the order. You must pay”

Right then I felt something hot splashed on my face and the car disappeared. I came back to my senses and pick up the tray. I softly walked towards the shop not knowing what to tell my boss. As I was putting the tray I heard Jamal calling me. “Where’s the money??” this question rang in my ear which vibrated my entire head.

This man never paid to me, he was refusing the order…” “ Why does this happen to you?” screamed Jamal. Now the money will cut off from your pay! You understand!” added Jamal.

Hot tears came in to my eyes. Finally it was the time to leave. I came out and looked up at the moon hanging from the never-ending sky. I thought that I was just made to serve the people. As the tears in my eyes made there way down my cheek, I wished and pray to God: “ God! Never give anyone a life like mine!”

Child Labor is a Punishable Offence, and People are not aware of it, anywhere in INDIA. Govt. Should crackdown on such local vendors who use their own kids to deliver food to homes.
