Its in the end closer to T20 over format to and yet will add spice to the 50 over match. Sachin Tendulkar today came up with a new proposal save the 50-over format from the Twenty20 wave which threatens its existence, suggesting that one-day matches be split into four innings of 25-overs-a-side.
"I am for 50-over cricket. I think we should have 25 overs a side to start with. I thought of this during the 2002 Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka," the champion batsman said.
"In the finals, we ended up playing 110 overs against Sri Lanka. First they played 50 overs and we played 10 overs before the rain interruption. The next day, Sri Lanka again played 50 overs and we played 10 overs and in the end we were declared joint winners. I thought, 110 overs and still no result," he recalled. Split innings will spice up one-dayers, says Tendulkar | Top News | Reuters
This would be quite fun, come to think of it. Plus lots of advertising opportunity too Almost a condensed Test Match.
Plus it takes away the advantage of the pitch, or dew. ---------------------------------------------- |

He was on TimesNow tonight and he slammed the idea as tinkering too much and destroying cricket as we know it.

I used to play 10 overs -twin innings cricket (as i called it) in school
Sachin stole my idea
I remember a world star 11 vs australia played this way. 10 overs each innings, 4 innings in total. It was fun

Plus in a way this is a test match of T20. If all that is going to happen is batsmen friendly cricket, then bowlers will lose out in the long run also.

Probably 3 bouncers and stop giving free hits?

Back to the topic, we all are liking the idea because its been proposed by Sachin himself. But if its implemented that way then we all will have to pay homage to test cricket. As it is the test matches have low attendance in grounds, if this 2 innings formula is implemented then the ODIs will become a extended version of T20 and there will be no takers for test matches.
