Just when you thought the days were numbered, and a wize move finally, Sachin Tendulkar has gone on record to say that quitting from world cricket is the last thing on his mind right now.

"I have kept things very open. I don't want to divide my energies in various directions. I just want to focus on playing cricket," Tendulkar told The Sunday Times here.

"I have not thought about where I might stop. I don't think it is the right time to think about that." Tendulkar dismissed the oft-repeated question about his slowing reflexes and difficulties against fast, short-pitched bowling, saying he was "more or less the same" batsman he was five years ago.

"Obviously ... Playing close to 400 one-dayers and 140 Test matches has taken its toll," he was quoted as saying. "After playing for 18 years, there are a few niggles, but you learn to deal with them. I am sure most players are not 100 per cent (fit)." He also defended his record in recent years, which his detractors feel has been meagre without the big scores against Bangladesh.

"It is probably the way people have looked at things. I think I have done reasonably well. Maybe the expectations are too high and unrealistic," he said.

This statement comes in the light of couple of good performances after a very lean season by Sachin, in Ireland and England.
I would have valued these statements more had he said them before getting his tons against club sides.

neways, saw this crap on news last nite... What was hillarious was, tendulkar saying 'Much more has yet to come' and ' I am satisfied with mah performance'... The guy shud quit in a glorious manner. He has been the god of Indian cricket. I wish he leaves gracefully and at a proper time...

See, right now the only man we need to really retire is Virender Sehwag..... who will come back, score one century, get into the team and then stay there till he retires. We need him to go. Sachin/Saurav/Rahul retiring are no use - they are already in the team and are going to be selected forever. We need preemptive strikes at this point - i.e. Sehwag's retirement before anyone can select him.
