Australia Beats England by 206 Runs to Regain Cricket's Ashes
Australia regained cricket's Ashes by defeating England by 206 runs in the third Test in Perth to take an unbeatable 3-0 series lead.
Resuming at 265-5 chasing a world record 557 to win, England was dismissed for 350 after lunch on the final day in Perth. Spin bowler Shane Warne took 4-115 to take his career haul of Test wickets to 699.
After last year losing the Ashes for the first time since 1987, top-ranked Australia won back the urn with two matches to spare. England's 15-month reign was the shortest in the 124-year- old history of cricket's oldest international contest.
The fourth Test starts Dec. 26 in Melbourne before the final match in Sydney from Jan. 2. Only one team has swept an Ashes series before -- Warwick Armstrong's Australian side won 5-0 in the 1920/21 season.
