BCCI takes on SRK
Finally BCCI has done a good deed. I was getting annoyed myself. SRK was doing a bit too much viral marketing and while that might have been tolerable, bringing the whole OSO team along and bragging about the film everywhere was seriously annoying.
MUMBAI, November 19: The presence of the reigning superstar of Hindi film industry, Shah Rukh Khan at cricket matches in recent times has attracted a lot of attention.
But the organisers of the games, BCCI has not taken too kindly to SRK's constant presence. Shah Rukh was also present at the final of the T20 World Championship and even went onto the field to congratulate the Indian team.
He was also present at the one-off T20 match between India and Australia at the Cricket Club of India (CCI). Quite a few officials are unhappy, claiming the leading man of Hindi cinema is using the platform provided by the matches to promote his latest flick, Om Shanti Om.
"This is a much bigger platform than being on a private television station. A match is watched by the entire country, there is no better way to create recall value. We have to be understand that," said an angry official.
In particular SRK's interview to the host broadcaster during the fifth and final ODI in Jaipur has raised the heckles. Interestingly, during the interview SRK spoke about his latest film. Board secretary Niranjan Shah refused to comment on the matter when contacted by TOI.
There has also been talk of SRK possibly buying a franchise in the soon-to-be launched Indian Premier League (IPL). But the board officials dismiss this as mere speculation.

that was too much, but even if he was not in a match or sumwhere else, OSO would automatically be publicized

Re: BCCI takes on SRK
New Delhi (PTI): The Cricket Board on Tuesday said that it has no objection to superstar Shahrukh Khan or any other film personality coming to watch international cricket matches involving the national side.
The statement comes in the wake of a media report which quoted a BCCI source saying the board officials are unhappy with king Khan as he is using cricket to promote his movies knowing that this is a "much bigger platform" than a private television station.
"The BCCI has no objection if any film star watches any of the matches involving the national team," BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla said.
"We do not think the players get distracted by the film stars or any other spectator," he said.
Off-late Shahrukh has been appearing in matches involving the Indian team. He was there to cheer the team in the final of the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa and then again went to see the Twenty20 match against Australia in Mumbai, where Deepika Padukone --his co-star in his recent movie 'Om Shanti Om' was also present. He was present in the last ODI against Pakistan in Jaipur as well and talked about his new movie in the commentary box.
He wanted to see the Kanpur ODI as well, but the local authorities vetoed the move saying it would be difficult for them to arrange for security and control the crowd.

Re: BCCI takes on SRK
Well done BCCi,, kuch to achha kaam kiya
i mean SRK was really bragging abt his movies,, didnt let go off ne oppurtunity to drag in his movies in between,,, thanks to coaxings of RAMEEZ RAJA
i think Cricket shud remain cricket wen being played on the field,,, OFf the field ,, do whatever they want to,,, SRK can take some of the guys to take some acting lessons even
But while watching a cricket match its really damn annoying n irritating to c all these stars using the oppurtunity to its fullest!!!

It can also be a typing mistake
Well i think it doesnt matter if SRK comes to matched or Manmohan Singh. But it sucks only when they start bragging about thier movies in thier interviews. You are here to watch cricket, why not give ur insights on that. Agreed that its a good marketing platform, but one should respect the game

Re: BCCI takes on SRK
SRK may come and watch cricket matches, but anyone can see that he was using this as an opportunity to publicise his movie, that too for free. He arranged a show of OSO for the cricketers at Chandigarh and invited them ( as a "thanksgiving" gesture) to a party. And he states that he was "just " watching the matches with his son.
I am not aware of SRK going to Hockey matches or inviting Hockey players to a party. Why he should not do that considering that his movie Chak de India is about Hockey ? Why he is not watching Hockey with his son ?
