gurujee is angry that Sachin (and surprize surprize Sourav) is being asked by BCCI to play the Ranji final from tomorrow. He believes that players can get hurt in these matches and can make themselves unavailable for WC.

Instead he wants a camp in Kolkata (i give him 10/10 for guts to suggest kolkata as camp venue) to better train the Indian players.


The whole issue raises interesting dimensions though. It was long suggested that Indian players should play ranji matches and now that they are playing, its being suggested that they will get hurt and will miss international matches. hmmm....

Well, I guess the timing is suspect here.
You should definitely play some Ranji matches, especially when you are out of form (read one time Ganguly and Zaheer, Irfan too), but I suppose as the coach he must be afraid about extra injuries so close to the world cup.
They'll get all the match practice they need from the Sri Lankans.

yeah i kinda agree with chappell there. so close to WC, and the ground conditions here, ur bound to get hurt, and if the injury cannot be healed in time for the WC, india would be in deep shit.... so a camp should be good enough for them , i feel..

youare assuming that india is in good condition right now thats a dangerous assumption in the first place.

I would say that players who were out of form should be playing. Maybe not tendu and sourav, but the rest should.

Well, as of now, out of form = Sehwag. The rest are not out of form as such, but Yuvraj needs match practice.
I'm not counting people like Kaif here who just don't fit in most of the time.

I said I wasn't counting Kaif, Raina, Agarkar type people who are in and out of the team. But the regulars (Sachin, Sourav, Dravid, Dhoni, Harbhajan, Kumble) don't need it.

zaheer switched his playing side from baroda to mumbai at the start of mumbai.
This was forced or suggested by tendulkar.

this cricketers are bloody professionals, they have to play whatever is available to them. Its like telling a doctor not to treat a patient for fear of contacting an infection or stopping a software professional from coding something in fear of crash of bugs. thats bullshit.

if the WC is thought of then we must not be playing anything right now as any international match may also cause an injury.

we keep on saying that indian domestic cricket standards need to improve but do not want our best players to play in it, its ridiculous thought.

look at australian league they have every player playing domestic matches whenever available so the standard of competition is really high.
