> Dhoni is Indian team captain

While a formal announcement is yet to be made, the indications and "leaks" from BCCI are suggesting that Mahender Singh Dhoni is all set to become Indian team captain for the ODI series against Australia. This comes in the wake of Sachin Tendulkar refusing to take up the role of captaincy after he told BCCI that he plans to concentrate on Tests and that he plans to take breaks between ODI matches and skip some of them to prolong his career.

This now means that we have a young and inexpereinced captain. However Dhoni has shown to be a person who is remarkably cool headed, un assuming and a man who never says die in crunch matches. How good will he be as a leader against a tough opposition like Austrlia remains to be seen.

HE IS NOT SUITABLE !!! HE DOESNT HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIENCE ET ALL....B/W WUD HE HAVE DRAVID & GANGULY TO SUPPORT HIM OR TRAIN HIM

well while i agree he is inexperienced, i just think it might do us a big favour too. Remember South Africa and Greame Smith. Under the seniors like boucher and Pollock, Sa were languishing but as soon as Greame became captain, SA are the team to beat rising to 2nd rank in ICC rankings. He was totally new when he became the captain too. Infact it was based on the performance of just 2 world cup matches that he became captain.

Dhoni will be tested against Australia. Problem is if he fails there, then whom are we going back to? Dravid.. no, Sachin.. he refused... Sourav.. but then why not make him captain now?

Its gonna be a royal mess if dhoni fails.
