IMHO ...... Definitely Chappel is not responsible for India's victory. In fact he had made every effort to destroy the team with his ego. Every senior team members he termed as unfit to play international cricket had contributed to India's victory yesterday. Its finally due to Dilip vengsarkar, players like Ganguly, Laxman. kumble & Zaheer got a chance to play in SA despite Greg's stiff opposition( And to some extent Rahul though one cant be sure about that).

Chappell was caught in an embarrasing situation all through the match because Ganguly and Laxman, the two players who he always wanted out, played excellently! One could see Chappell reluctantly applauding when Ganguly reached his half-century. I think the credit for our win yesterday goes entirely to our bowlers and not Chappel

lol jokes aside, yes i would give him credit if
1) he acknowledges he did mistakes earlier and he has been wrong with Sourav and others
2) He agrees its cos of him that team is losing in ODI's. And badly at that. You can't pin blame on others when you lose and take all credit when you do.
3) And if he gets over his inner clique. Stops the nonsense of promoting players he likes and plotting against those who question his ethics(yes cos hi not bigger than Indian cricket)

What kinda question is this. first ppl bash him if India lose (never mind the over paid overrated players). But if India wins, Greg wasnt responsible? C'MON!

Greg is not responsible. Just the simple fact the two people he wanted out of team were the players who lead India to victory strips off his leftover credibility.

Though maybe i'm wrong, may Greg did deserve a part in it : He has only got one chance to prove his worth as the unsung hero - World Cup. If India wins, he's the hero.

If the same ODI team had won, Vince, I would have agreed with you.

But the people responsible for this win were all the people who didnt deserve to play in the team according to Greg. Ganguly, Laxman, Zaheer and Kumble.

Sreesanth was the only young chap who played well....

That is why I also say that Greg doesnt deserve credit. He didnt have a choice. Due to the superb performance of the team in the ODIs, he was forced to sit back and let the others choose a team...

I don't think Chappell was against Laxman and Kumble. Those two are not in the ODIs, but is that surprising? You don't need Chappell for that. Hell, Kumble and Laxman have been in and out of the ODI team long before Chappell came along. But they have always been test team regulars.
As for Ganguly and Zaheer, perhaps one should understand that when they left, they sucked. And had been sucking for a long time. Now that they are back, they are playing well. Ergo, the break was good for them. Ergo.... Chappell was right.

you can't have selective rights. Lots of people suck who remain in team cos he likes them
He formed an opinion on those two in 2 months and on some others he has not formed an opinion even after 1 and a half year.
