Fall of Lalit Modi?

Looks like all's not well for the the new kid who wanted to be the corporate face of the BCCI in India.

Couple of recent incidents, namely the the top class training and other facilities offered to the touring Australian team by the Modi controlled RCA; and the open invitation to Jagmohan Dalmiya to attend the BCCI AGM have not gone down well with the BCCI. So much so that Modi is now all set to lose his top roles in the BCCI as marketing chif. Its for now speculation but unless things are patched up in a few hours, the high flyer of Indian cricket is all set to take a straight nosedive

Modi meanwhile has lashed out at his critics, who he thinks are jealous of his success

I don't see that happening. I think BCCI can't afford to lose in especially when the much speculated champion's trophy is around the corner. I am sure they will try to sort out the differences and move on..

I doubt Modi will be allowed to remain for too long. The fact is that BCCI is the bastion of politicians and they certainly won't like a businessman kid coming over to dominate the sports. With time there will be people who will push him off. Remember Dalmiya looked invincible during his reign too. Look where he is now.

At the end of the day, the fast rise of Modi would be the reason for his downfall. And as it is hate the bugger Lol whats his qualification apart from being the son of Modi He was even involved in a supposed drug racket

^ i don't like him either, but he has turned out to be a money spinner. The fact the India was the first country to launch its premier league and the magnitude of its success has left other cricket boards red faced, and Modi was the master mind in that. BCCI will certainly take that into consideration.
I agree he has more foes than friends in BCCI, but i don't see he out of the BCCI think tank atleast for the time being.

You cannot really compare Modi with Dalmiya.

Is it not better for India to be seen as magnanimous in providing Australia with top class facilities, such as found in Jaipur, rather than tear down the guys responsible for the offer... It shows a greater degree of sportsmanship from India, (something that Cricket Australia has publicly acknowledged), than has, on occasion, been forthcoming from Australia.....

Training facilities are just that, the real action is out on the pitch when the respective squads face off together.....

^^ THe point is we won't get the same facilities if we tour any other country.
Sure its magnanimous for us but to do it by going out of the way can also be considered foolishness. Imo a basic level courtesy should have been given.

@Modi, I don't think Modi alone is to be congratulated for the success of the IPL. Frankly most things in India concerning cricket will work. You also have to ask the question what a success of such a league has done to ODI and test cricket.
Imo all that he has really done is charged so much of money for thhings no one even cared about(like if i want to i can't even create a IPL fantasy league now) that cricket is just not what it was. One of the fallout's has been more ads on TV during cricket matches. Now we have to see ads on half the cricket TV screen while the match is on
