If not for dravid who else could have been named as the captain immediately after the wc?
One thing about dravid is, he knows what he is made of.

He wasn't good for ODI, but he improved him game. Now he realised he isn't performing as a captain as he should, but by the time he improves it wouldn't help india's cause much, so he decided to quit.

But giving captaincy to a kid is difficult, my bet would be dhoni for ODI and sachin for test, but then as doc said, Kumble for test is an awesome move, but i believe he would also retire at the end of the australian series in Australia early next year.

We need a youngster to carry the mantle. But since we have none, i believe it would be either dhoni or yuvi. May be dada can rope in for a while, but i really doubt he wuld take it again.

i appreciate dravid for the guy he is. Bold and straight forward.

PLEASE do not make Sachin the captain. He is batting so well now... he will go down the drain. Sharad Pawar has to bring regionalism in everywhere...

Sachin is most probably going to refuse.
In all probability it will be Dhoni as captain(he just needs to take India to 20-20 semis and thats that.

For tests however i think Kumble would be a better choice. (They can't put Sourav back as 1) that would be a major embarrassment for the selectors lol and 2) i don;t think sourav wants to become one either.

We might all be surprised but then, Zaheer khan can be brought to lime light. Many articles have been written about how he has come back and was instrumental in plotting a lot of dismissals in england in the recently concluded series. Again, this is just my guess.

But looks like if dhoni fails, one man, just one man has to power to become the captain from mumbai.
