It doesn't matter who wins the slanging match, both sides are the poorer for indulging in this ridiculous carry-on........
Gilchrist, having pulled the plug on cricket, (at least at this level) went on record saying that the game was not being played in the same spirit that he remembered as a child, (in reference to ongoing australian/indian sledging).....
And you know what, he's right.... Cricket should not be reduced to this petty bullsh*t and in my own opinion, sports media are just as guilty as the players concerned, because every single remark, whisper, comment is carried to the crowd via new technology, then broadcast around the world via newspaper, tv, web & radio, dissected by everyone to the lowest possible denominator and then, instead of cricket and sportsmanship, what are we left with?? racial intolerance, oneupmanship, lawsuits, players & teams left in upheaval.
Who's the loser, well, that's simple, cricket becomes the loser and so too do all the kids of every nation in the Commonwealth, who get turned off by the stupid antics of players who, quite frankly, are getting way too arrogant for their own good.......
My own cousin played against India during the 60's, (and made 81 on his debut match), during his day, this sort of crap, if it did exist, simply didn't get past the players themselves and at the end of the day, all the public would see was a game played by the best a nation could provide..... Nowadays, it's less about the game and more about the takings......
