ndia fielding coach Robin Singh will be fired before the home Test series against South Africa starting next week, local media reported on Wednesday.

Gary Kirsten, who has taken over as India coach before the series against his home country, has told the Board of Control for Cricket in India that Singh's services will not be required, the Hindustan Times reported.

The former India all-rounder joined the team along with bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad last year following their shock first-round exit at the World Cup in West Indies.

Prasad and Singh had a dispute with the board over their involvement with the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), due to be launched next month, the paper said. Prasad is expected to continue in his role.

The first match of the three-Test series starts in Chennai on March 26.

He was one guy who really helped the team. Now with fast bowlers coming up ehhh... ahhhh... ehhh... u know... baaah..... Prasad seems to be more important

I don't think it will make much of a difference. They say too many cooks spoil the broth, same hold for coaching as well.

As far as I am concerned, you need to leave the choice to Kirsten. If the team does bad, the first thing people will do is blame him, so you need to at least give him the authority to choose his staff. He will not have much of a say in the team selection.

if i look at otherway around this step is fully justified.

The presence of Robin singh has not helped Indian Fielding much in last one year. He could have been more fruitfull if hiw wards have listened to him.

Indian mind set is when active duty is required then we go all out and give 100 % percent, but when supportive role is to be given we pass the buck, so the fielding has not shown much improvement.

In stark contrast, bowling has shown definite visible improvements, and thinking and planning has gone behind strategy which is quickly reflected in results.

Only thing most worrysome is injury to bowlers, which is remarkably increasing.

What Indian cricket team needs is a person with sound scientific and practical needs of cricket rigour and stepped approach how to handle it.

Fielding will require inputs from grass roots level, we cant inject fielding goodies to harbhajan, sourav, balaji, zaheer even by roping in Jonty Rhodes.
