The reactions to Pakistan's shock first-round elimination from the World Cup has, understandably, enraged passionate fans back home and drawn plenty of criticism. In a nation stunned by Pakistan's three-wicket defeat to Ireland in Jamaica, there have been angry protests, calls for arrest and even Nasim Ashraf, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, hasn't been spared.
"We will ask for his [Ashraf's] resignation in the meeting which is due to take place before March 28," Senator Mohammad Enver Baig, a member of the senate standing committee on culture, sports, youth affairs and tourism told AFP. "You lost miserably to a country like Ireland. There is nothing to compensate and the chairman must resign and go back to the United States.
"The way the team has lost is the most disgraceful performance since the World Cup started. The entire nation is shocked."
Baig said Ashraf had no experience to head the PCB and that his "one-man show" management had resulted in the "shameful defeat." "He is a crony of [President] Pervez Musharraf and the way he [Musharraf] is running the country, the cricket board is also being run in same manner. It is a one-man rule everywhere."
In Multan, Inzamam-ul-Haq's home town, incensed youth held a protest rally, chanted slogans against Pakistan and demanded that police arrest the World Cup squad. The mob was heard chanting, "Death to Bob Woolmer , death to Inzamam, death to Nasim Ashraf - police should arrest them".
Sarfraz Nawaz, the former Pakistan fast bowler, said the shock was "unbearable". "I am speaking with deep pain and this shock is becoming unbearable for me," he said, demanding that those responsible be fired. "The captain, coach and the entire team should be held accountable. It seemed that the umpires also wanted that Pakistan should win, but the body language of the team reflected that they wanted to lose."
The defeat was Pakistan's second after the 54-run loss to West Indies in the tournament opener. Ireland are provisionally at the top of Group D, with three points - one more than West Indies and two ahead of Zimbabwe - leaving Pakistan at the bottom of the table with no points.

Re: Indian team, I hope you're reading this.
Mentals! can't find a better word... ah yes. lunatics.
These crazy fans are the ones to be blamed. Just take a look at the pic below. They are burnin' the effigies and posters of these poor blokes. They are just humans who play cricket as their profession. They are giving their best.
These stupid lunatics go crazy one day if india does well. One extreme to another.
Sachin is called god one day, another day his effigy is burnt? How dare they call themselves fans? Rascals.
Last year kaif's house was stonned, this year they want him in the team and if he doesn't play well, KILL HIM or what?
Media is the 2nd a$$( to be blamed. Media does all this hype.
If these cricketers are just treated like simple human beings, i am sure they will do really well.
I am glad that the indian team is shielded from media and not allowed to get connected to the outside world. I am sure they will do well. All they need is support.
Sorry, i went overboard

Re: Indian team, I hope you're reading this.
to be fair the Indian team deserves the blame too
when they win at home or once in a blue moon, they go overboard with contracts, fashion shows and what not.
wiith all that and the pay you get you cannot affordd to fail
Its like a ceo who is being paid a hell of a lot. If he fails to get a major contract, would he remain in the company? NO.
(that doesn't mean you burn his house also but this is India)

Re: Indian team, I hope you're reading this.
I agree on one thing, if you play well you get paid, If you don't, you don't get paid.
As i said, we all know this indian team is called GREAT as it is done as a media hype.
The board gets money. THey need to pay it out to the cricketers for tax or someother reasons.
Do the cricketers ask for godlike status? workshippers?
Do they ask ppl to shave off their head like the india map?
Do they ask for ADs? hell no.
Do they want such hype? Hell no
But safin, in a company if someone fails, if you can replace him. well good. go ahead.
But in indian cricket, you've got a bunch of ppl whom you simply can't replace.
These cricketers would have been dropped loooong back, but they can't find a replacement for him. Again, we'd get discussions like, vvs is there, kaif is there, dinesh mongia, raina and other names would pop up. But hey, if they were good enuf, they would be in the squad in the first place.
All they can do now, is just shut up, burn the media for giving unwanted hype?
man this blue billion? It is absolute crap i tell you. Burn pepsi down....
