Today after much fan fair the selection committee has met in India and i dare say never before in India did a more sham selection been done.
It was plain for all to see, those who saw the press conference.

1) BCCI appointing dravid as captain even before anyone met. It is indeed surprizing the amount of faith that is put on dravid. When its clear that the person is not a good captain and almost everyone agrees to that. Across the world the brunt of defeat is borne by the coach and captain. In India we have decorated two people who have failed us miserably at the grandest stage of them all.

2) Then you issue a directive to select a young team.(for both series) A board giving directives to its own selectors is indeed surprizing. You would have though that the selectors have sound mind to select the team. Or now since greg chapell says so, the board doesn't trust its own selectors.

3) And first time in history, we don't have a vice captain. It will be decided by the "captain and coach". My god, the silly process is not going to end. So now Mr Dravid, himself an incompetent captain will decide a chela VC. How many people trust dravid is an open question in the team and giving a VC power to him is an open invitation to him to select his own crony.

4) press asks the chairman of selector what happened to sachin and sourav? (he says they have been rested.) indeed? sourav rested. i thought he had plenty of rest already. If you want to drop someone, better say you dropped him. I think dravid himself is a fit candidate of being dropped anyway.

5) The people who have been dropped from ODI, i don't think it takes a genius to see that its the ODI that is their forte and not test cricket. If you wnated to retain them, it should have been in ODI.

6) And exactly who has been selected. Dinesh Mongia.. ahmm is he young? and exactly what has he done to win the place back. The people who did well in domestic cricket(like bose from bengal) don't find a place. Gautam Gambhir.. err..

By undermining the selectors, Indian cricket is going to move anywhere forward. Putting all faith on dravid and coach after a far from stellar record of his is nothing but foolishness. You don't play cricket for some "process" as dravid believes but to win. Winning is something he doesn't care too much about.

This is a regressive step all the way.

i am also disappointed with the cosmetic changes they have done.

it tendulkar and ganguly can be rested why not sehwag and yuvraj.

even test team does not show anything spectacular looks like board and selectors did some arrangements with players and exchanged places.

lame.

After all this India can safely put their claim as World's No.1 BANANA cricketing Country
...OMG..what a Selection .Only GOD save India...

I am wondering what will happen happen when we travel to australia with this team l8r this year. Getting goosebumps, Already!!

Safin , Dravid will continue performing as a good batsman he has always been .. I dont think he should be stripped of his captaincy .. even the team doesn't look good . every time , there has been some controversy or the other . this team will never look good (but only on paper) as far as I'm concerned .

I think d team is Fine ..... Youngsters should be given a chance .... Great to see Kaif back in d side .... the only problem i have is with Gangully being rested ... i mean d guy is ur best batsmen currently ... y rest him ??
