Now Kumble Slams Mallya

Enjoying a sensational party thrown by himself at Istanbul on the eve of the Formula-1 Istanbul grand Prix, Vijay Mallya has slammed Rahul Dravid and Charu Sharma in no uncertain terms in a interview to the Economic Times.


"My biggest mistake was to trust Rahul Dravid and Charu Sharma for team selection"

"I had my own set of players to choose but in cricket sadly you have to go by what the captain wants. It was only later that when i talked to friends that they told me that the team more looks like a Test XI than a T20 team. Rahul said that a Test team can perform in any environment"

On Charu Sharma, Mallya said that this was as much a corporate event as it was sports and he expected Charu to understand the reasons for his being sacked.

Mallya didn't give any clear indication about the future of the Royal Challengers but said that there would be changes in the future.

The economic times will be carrying the full interview tomorrow.

Haha ... this was expected , Dravid is next in line to be sacked

I dunno how Dravid is feeling right now though

I mean Mallya has basically told that he has lost faith in him and his selections by the "captain selects the team" remark. I guess Dravid's position is now untenable.

Anyways the tournament is almost over for Royal challengers but its really sad how a senior player like dravid has been dealt with in the past 1 year. There were times when an Indian team without dravid was unthinkable. Its a pity how the luck hasn't favoured dravid in recent times.

^I beg to differ .... dravid , kallis , chanderpaul , boucher , misbah ... these are world class players and i guess dravid was right when he said that test players can perform in any environment. I mean the ODI record of all the above mentioned batsmen has been impressive. Blame it on luck , Royal challengers have lost too many close games ... had they won any of these , i am sure nothing would have been said about dravids choice of players.

Kallis has been dropped from the T20 team in his own country, Ditto with Dravid, Ditto with Boucher. Misbah is a fluke bet. Chdrapaul is the only horse you can bet on but he is getting pressurized due to all the slow test match players around him
