Re: The Official ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Thread !
Captain Habibul Bashar believes that Bangladesh has the potential to enter the super eight stage.
"Our target is the second round (super eight)," Bashar told a news conference on the eve of his team's departure for the Caribbean on Sunday.
"Beating Sri Lanka and India will be a tough job, but not impossible," Bashar said, who heads a 15-member squad for the mega event to be held in March-April.
"We went twice to the World Cup without any expectations," Bashar said. "Now, we have beaten big teams. We are a much better and mature side."
tats a Stiren Warning...

Bangladesh stun Kiwis in World Cup warm-up
Bangladesh stun Kiwis in World Cup warm-up
Bangladesh secured a stunning pre-World Cup warm-up victory over New Zealand at the 3Ws Stadium on Tuesday.
Set 227 for victory, the rank outsiders made it with two wickets in hand after tail-ender Mashrafe Mortaza blasted two successive sixes off James Franklin in the penultimate over.
Bangladesh had looked behind the clock for most of their run-chase after Jacob Oram, nursing a broken finger, had battered 88 in the New Zealanders' 226 all out.
They started in style with 17-year-old Tamim Iqbal tearing apart the Kiwi attack with a quick-fire 46 from 48 balls including a huge six off Daniel Vettori.
His fellow opener Javed Omar weighed in with 45 but after those two had departed the Bangladesh innings lacked momentum until the late assault from fast bowler Mortaza.
He hit 30 from 14 balls including three sixes, one of which came off the bowling of New Zealand spearhead Shane Bond.Mortaza had also shone with the ball, claiming four for 44.
Earlier, the hefty 28-year-old Oram had repaired the New Zealand innings at 75 for six when he and Brendon McCullum blasted a seventh-wicket 105-run partnership.

Re: The Official ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Thread !
this is infact a wake up call for Indian team.
bangladesh can bite the tail of this indian team easily.
tendulkar played a missed a lot looked like he was toying with dutch bowlers but could not succed much
anyways both tendya and dravid were smooth in batting.
from the few curtain raisers it looks like slower bowler will win the matches, so be prepared for low scoring, boring matches, with some part timers taking fifers.
this does not augur well for lovers of game.
i like either slam bang high scores of a fiery spell by a pacer at the top unrattling the opposition.

Re: The Official ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Thread !
^^ not for too long, this indian team is gonna play some really good cricket.
Slam Bang is good, but low scoring games are good for the game and the bowlers. Australia used to have such low scoring games and they all used to be thrillers.
Slam Bang, you get to know who'll win pretty soon.
